So anywho, a few pages ago, I had proposed the idea of a spoiler embargo when the show is out. Maybe ending on April 16 because I'm sure many of us are going to want to watch this on our own?
I proposed a happy medium between a full-on spoiler embargo and allowing people to discuss the show.

Right before the show airs, I'm going to create 10 separate threads, one for each episode. Discussion in each thread will be limited to that episode and any prior episodes, but not later episodes. This way, everyone can watch and engage at their own pace.

Sound fair?
I still have a feeling that with the amount of attention this is likely to garner here, a complete subsection of the forum dedicated to the show could be beneficial. Alongside the individual episode threads, people might want to start other discussions related to the show without completely taking over the Media section. I could be wrong, especially since the whole thing is dropping at once, but here's hoping there's a lot for us all to unpack together.

this is such a dumb solution to be honest. You'll get 10 different threads with with only a few reply in each... It will only pollute the Media section, and push other threads down, all for the sake of one show? that is just weird man...

I completely understand the argument about 10 separate threads pushing down other threads. Yeah, I can see how that would gum up the works, so to speak.

Another suggestion has come up about having a subsection dedicated to the show. That, combined with separate threads for each episode, would be more ideal because it would allow people to engage at their viewing pace without the fear of spoilers AND avoid the issue you've mentioned. I'm not a moderator of the forum, so I can't make that happen myself, but I can reach out and ask.

So it's a delicate balance between the two issues:
1) Avoiding spoilers -- Separate threads for each episode, whether in a subsection or not, combats that.
2) Pushing other threads down -- People can still scroll down to the threads they want with little difficulty.

I'm just trying to come up with a solution to address spoiler reveals. If you have a different solution, please suggest one.

A spoiler thread, and a no-spoiler thread.

Ya'll thinking this too hard. One thread for each episode and it's up to the member to not read any threads of any episode they have not seen.

Or don't bother engaging in discussions on here, and just watch the show!

Which is probably what I'll do once it airs over here.

A spoiler thread, and a no-spoiler thread.
If the episodes were being released weekly, this would be enough.

The problem is that there may be some folks with the schedule & ability to binge the entire series in one day. Meanwhile, that release date coincides with an extremely busy work week for me, and I might only be able to catch an episode or two on release day, another episode or two the next day, and so on. And maybe some people won't be able to start watching until that weekend or later.

Let's consider the "spoiler/no-spoiler threads" method. So if I watch 3 episodes and something awesome (or not awesome) happens in them, and I want to see people's thoughts on it or share my own, which thread do I read? I can't share comments or predictions in the no-spoiler threads because I don't want to spoil things. But if I go to the spoiler thread, I have to worry about reading things for later episodes. Thus, it would require everyone to state what episode they're on at the start of the post. That's putting a lot of pressure on everyone to label correctly.

But in the "one thread per episode" method, that pressure doesn't exist. If I've watched 3 episodes, I know exactly where I should & shouldn't look and post. People just have to post in the correct thread based on where they are and trust no one's going to spoil later episodes. There wouldn't be "accidental" spoilage from having to sift through one thread.

For people not choosing to watch or post, yeah, there'll be ten posts devoted to the show, which I won't disagree is a lot. But if I wanted to post or read something else media-related, those posts are still there and visible by subject line. I might have to scroll through the 10 clearly labeled episode posts (which would likely have the subject lines "Miniature Wife episode X"). Sorry to be blunt, but we'll still find the other threads. I see 25 threads on the first page of the "SW in the Media" forum, and the bottom 12 haven't had new posts in over two weeks. I think we can manage.

I'm a man-hating dike hating dyke hating man hating dike hating dike. I thought that was obvious.

(Also, I don't like "dike" because that implies someone who goes out of their way to look ugly.)
"implies someone who goes out of their way to look ugly." if you don't mind, can you expand on this? I have never heard dike used to describe a lesbian in this way.

Just a white, straight man here, I haven't heard the term "dike" or, as I was taught to spell it as "dyke" as a slur for many years, I was taught it as a compliment or in a positive light. Nowadays, if any of my LGBTQ friends, use the term, and still rarely use it, they use it to describe a enpowered lesbian, assertive, a leader, strong-willed, iron-clad mindset, also sometimes with strong female traits, sometimes with strong male traits or a strong combination.
I think that "dyke" was a slur when it was used in Breakfast at Tiffany's (the book, not the movie) and when it was used in Valley of the Dolls (the book, not the movie). And when Warner Brothers wanted Bette Davis to be in the women-in-prison movie Caged (1950), her reply was "I won't be in a damned dykefest!". But I don't think it is now. Here are some quotes from The L Word:

Dana: "Do you have to dress like that? Everything about you screams "dyke"."

Alice: "Typical dyke drama."

Jenny: "The motorcycle lesbians want you to ride with them."
Shane: "The Dykes on Bikes?"

Here's a quote from Lucy Lawless:

"Xena is a big ol' flaming dyke."

And for some reason, quite a while back (probably at least ten years ago), my mom was getting posts from the Facebook page of "Lizzie the Lezzie" on her Facebook page. One of them was "I don't mind being called a dyke. I am a dyke!"

I guess it will never fully get away from its slur roots, but I rarely hear it as a slur nowadays, to be honest, I cannot remember when I last did. The closest I have come use the term is the word "butch" as a compliment, but I learned a few years ago that it can be an insult or a compliment for a lesbian based on the outlook they have but like pronouns you can never know until you are told or you ask so I stopped using the word "butch," still crosses the mind though, annoyingly, (also with pronouns, a non-binary friend once told me, "just assume everyone you meet is they/them" and it works a lot IRL or online and is respectful)
I thought that "butch" referred to a lesbian with very short hair, like Gabrielle after her "makeover" during Season Four of Xena. ("Gabrielle wasn't so butch.") I don't know if you remember janice, frequent model for Sally R. Her profile on Minimizer's board said "Occupation: Being a sexy toy for a butch woman".

Words are weird. I haven't heard the term used recently either. I was more concerned about the "man-hating" part. I try not to hate anyone unless it is someone they specifically have done.
Like Lorekeep. ("Lorekeep was cool for a long time, but a couple of years ago he turned into a sociopath." In another post on Minimizer's board, you said that it seemed like Lorekeep had been replaced by his evil twin brother.)

You certainly seemed to hate some of the content I've posted here. When members of the board were complaining about there not being any SW content in Disney's "Descendants" franchise, I found some. You immediately bashed it. When I posted the episode of Hanna-Barbera's The Partridge Family 2200 AD that had tiny female aliens in it, you bashed it. When I posted about Lou Bunion's live action/stop motion animation version of Alice in Wonderland, you bashed it.

Maybe I would be a man-hating dyke if I had been born in the right body. I hate my dad, my grandfather on my dad's side, male classmates from elementary school, junior high school, high school, and Tusculum College, the Dean of Students of Tusculum College who expelled me at the end of my sophomore year, that awful doctor in Greeneville, Tennessee who wanted to check the size of my testicles (I wouldn't let him), and people I've clashed with online, on message boards, on Facebook, and people I've bought stuff from online, like the ioffer.com seller who called me an "ungrateful uneducated dumbass". (And I think I've been banned from the MeTV Toons Fans Facebook group. I haven't been able to access it for over two weeks.) Though there are women I hate too, like both of my sisters (of course), teachers who picked on me, especially EH (Emotionally Handicapped) teachers, the manager of the Bonanza restaurant in Greeneville, Tennessee who threatened to throw me out, my first counselor at MHC (among other things, she thought that I needed to spend more time with my dad), and of course, the woman who evicted me, and possibly as many as nine other people, from Brewer's Bridgeway over the course of less than a year and a half, including evicting two people at Christmastime. (People should not be getting evicted at Christmastime.)

Hating content is different than hating people. And I didn't hate those things, I just was disappointed or annoyed by them. Hate is something you remember years later, when you don't need to.

Sorry to be blunt, but effectively there are only 4 persons engaging in this thread. And for the 4 of you, you want to create 10, let me repeat that, 10 different threads. Those threads individually will be emptier than the Goby desert.

Stated as such, you make an extremely valid point. There are only a small handful of us engaging in this thread. Though it's possible that more will engage once the show airs, the post to posters ratio is likely out of whack.

So credit where credit's due, you've gotten me out of a somewhat obsessive frame of mind to see that. I thank you for that.

While I still have some concerns about how to fully avoid spoilers in a thread, I'm not so proud or stubborn to go back to the drawing board.

I think there's little engagement in this thread due to the lack of updates since the trailer was released. I think a thread for each episode is still a good idea since I expect each show would generate a lot of interest and discussion.

You must not have vivid dreams like I have. In the early years after my parents divorced, I was eating dinner in a restaurant with my dad. He told me that if I wasn't finished with my dinner when he was finished with his dinner, he was going to leave me there at the restaurant. I still have dreams in which I've been abandoned somewhere by my dad (or another member of my family). (And I have not eaten in a restaurant since February 1991 because I have had so many bad experiences in restaurants with my dad, with my grandfather on my dad's side, and while I was at Tusculum College.) And I have dreams in which my dad is going to force me to eat meat. (Even though my dad has been burning in Hell with his stepfather since sometime in 2023.)

I wonder if there will be a "TV tie-in" edition of the book after the series premieres? Do they even do those anymore?

With something like that in your history, I'd think you ought to be able to let the little stuff slide.

This is a valid point as well, and I think I've found a way to split the difference, so to speak, between the two sides of the coin.

Rather than 10 separate threads, can we all agree to 3 threads?
Thread 1: Discussion of episodes 1-3 only
Thread 2: Discussion of episodes 4-6 (with allowable call-backs to episodes 1-3)
Thread 3: Discussion of the full 10 episodes.

This still allows people to watch and engage at their own pace with limited access to spoilers AND it doesn't gum up the works with 10 threads. People will still have to be careful about spoilers within the thread if they've only watched 2 episodes, but there's no fear of having the ending spoiled.

Sound reasonable?

Here's some behind the scenes stuff along with some new AMAZING scenes from the series!

You've gotta see this for yourselves, everyone. It's utterly fantastic! And we may have the answer to the question of how Lindy gets in her pajamas.

I'm realizing even from what saw before that I've really underestimated the scope of this show. I mean, I shouldn't considering these are the Gen V people working on the effects, but it just keeps throwing new stuff at us. I especially love the end scene with the bird because we see Lindy and Les reacting right next to each other instead of needing a massive gap to create the invisible wall where they insert Banks' greenscreen stuff later.

Honestly, even I weren't into SW, this still looks like a blast. They mention 80's and 90's and it's really like they've blended virtually every size trope from those eras into one super package.

This is going to be absolutely wild.
