"bigs" would be chosen to be their chaperones, having to pick them up in the mornings, carry them around to their classes, lunch and back to their part of the city at the end of classes. That would be a real pain in the ass. Oddly, no one was asked to be a chaperone. They looked over our college admission paperwork and chose people with clean records and participation in other civic activities. I did have a clean record and was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts, but that was about it, so I really wasn't concerned until I heard my name called..........
One of the staff walked over to my seat and told me to hold out my hand. I obliged and she set a tiny girl in the palm of my hand, who looked up at me and gave me a mischievous look...........
This year might be shaping up even better than I had hoped.
