Also I don't remember the "slingshot ride" when I originally read the borrowers.

It was in the movie made in 2011, I think. Aisling Loftus played Arrietty. Probably the best "The Borrowers" movie I seen yet, but just my opinion. And thanks for the above adjustment.

I just say, that anything that is okay to show in children television programs, is clearly not an adult situation.

(There actually have been a few very rare instances, when I had to intervene and delete stuff, because it clearly crossed the line of acceptable content)

If I ever posted something the Admins felt was inappropriate or crossing the line, or even another member whose opinion I respect, I would have no issue deleting it, and have done so, even if I didn't really think it was. That said, sometimes comments come from someone who is a "Negative Nancy" and I simply ignore them because the problem is within them, not what they are criticizing.

I never said that. But just like if someone looks at a "not dirty" picture and sees dirt, it's on them, like a politician in my city who said, "I can't define pornography, but I know it if I see it." If you wish to make a general remark personal, that's your choice.

If someone on D-art asks for a fee, a donation or posts "Do not use with my permission........" I comply or just don't use it. This picture did not, though a few others on his page do, such as the four-part shrinking picture that he made and was charging a fee to download and I used the background photo, not any of his "work". If none of those restrictions are included with the picture, I may "borrow" part of the picture to build a collage, but I would never use, say.....a hand AND SW from a Pacific 1982 picture and put it on a different background with or without permission, because that was his work combining the two. Technically, every picture on the Net belongs to someone. Some like Dreamstime and iStock put watermarks on their images, forcing you to purchase them if you want to use them for something. There are only two artists that I have come across that use their own photographs for their collages. Even Pacific1982 who uses his own backgrounds and hands, uses pictures off the Net as does nearly everyone else, even you I would assume. (I've seen the original pictures from nearly everyone's collages during my searches for collage fodder) Does anyone track down and contact the "owner" of a picture they find on Bing or Google Images and ask permission to use the photograph if they are not using it for financial gain? I seriously doubt it. If you really think about it, even AI creations would belong to the guy or gal who created the program, since it's technically their work that produces the image, not the person who typed in what they wanted the program to create. Ethically, you should ask permission to use ANY picture you use off the Net, but if you did, you would never be able to do anything because they would never respond to you and most pictures are already "stolen" from the original source and reposted, even a lot of DA pictures I've also found on Bing or Google Images with no connection to DA, but to a magazine or magazine website such as Elegant Restraint, FHM and others, so it would appear they simply collected the picture and put it on their profile page with no recognition of the original source. I do all of this for fun, I posted a disclaimer on the first post of the thread that I built the collages from pictures found on the Net. I don't charge or request donations, publish or even have a DA profile where I'm asking, requesting or accepting financial considerations, so what's the harm?

Take for example these two pictures. The top picture was on someone's page. Both the hands and the female I've seen independently on Bing images.


So because I liked the girl and I didn't save the picture from Bing and couldn't find it again, I "borrowed" her and put her on a background photograph I found on Bing images.


I'm pretty confident the "original artist" did not take this picture him or herself and simply snagged it off the Net like everyone else does. If he or she is not claiming ownership of the photograph or making money off it, was any harm done? It's like the guy who walks around town in a military uniform but was never in the military. There's no law against it, but if he says he was in the military to reap some type of benefits (even a free cuppa coffee), then he/she has broken the law.

I feel the need to interject. I agree with Bob. I went ahead and with all my photos that I could on deviantart I have removed the option to download the source file. All photos I have posted are of me and my wife. You should not make assumptions like most do on the internet. Have a good day.

I think the difference was Laboki is part of the community and while he and his wife are public here, I'm guessing they would have at least been asked permission first.

It can still be, just look up if the image is from a notable SW collager, if so, ask just in case or if it is stock they asked to go nuts on.

Regina awoke with a start. She didn't even remember falling asleep. But what was happening now? She was entrapped by what appeared to be a transparent cocoon. A translucent plastic enclosed her entire body except for a small cut out circle in front of her face. Behind her was a soft plastic material that form fitted to her back and legs and curled up and over her head. She was unable to move her legs or arms as the plastic cocoon held them firmly in place. She could move her fingers and she could feel a vinyl like material shaped like a miniskirt around her waist. She could only move her head slightly to the left or right and even less up and down. Forgetting about attempting to move, she tried to look around her as far as her eyes could see without moving her head. She seemed to be in a huge room, bigger than a football stadium, but everything seemed far away and too huge from her perspective. She saw movement, people moving around. She yelled for help, but nothing came out of her mouth. Confused, she tried just talking and whistling. She could feel her mouth and tongue forming the shapes to makes words, but she couldn't hear any of the words she was saying or even the whistling. She wasn't deaf, she knew. She could hear everything around her, though the sounds were muffled by the plastic cocoon. She heard voices, the sounds of shopping carts, cash registers dinging.....footsteps.

The last thing she remembered was walking through the hallways of the toy company R&D branch. As an intern in her first year of college, she was basically what they called a "go-fer". Not the lovable critter in "Caddyshack", but a low level staffer who "goes for" this or "goes for" that. She had gotten lost in the spiderweb of corridors and finding no one else in the hallways, she went into one of the rooms to try to get directions to the shipping & receiving department where she had been going to pick up a package. She didn't notice the sign on the door: "R&D Department. Project X. No unauthorized entry".

"Mommy, Mommy, Mommy. Lookit. Lookit. The new tiny Barbies are out. I NEEEEEEEEEEEEED one !!!!!"
"You have enough dolls. You don't need another one" replied the little girl's mother.
"I NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED one !!!! PULEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE !!!"
Rolling her eyes in exasperation, the mother reached over and grabbed the package imprisoning Regina and took it off the rack and placed it in her cart. As the mother was removing the package from the peg, Regina could see the rack was full of tiny dolls in clear plastic packages and she screamed again, but as before no sounds came out of her mouth. As the package was setting on its side in the shopping cart, by rolling her eyes to the right, she could just see the giant mother pushing the cart and looking side to side at the toys and other items on the shelves on either side of the aisle. Looking to her left, she could see the little girl happily skipping alongside the shopping cart. Regina closed her eyes and prayed that this was all just a bad dream, but the incessant wobbling of the inevitable one bad wheel on the shopping cart kept reminding her that she was not asleep.

Regina closed her eyes and prayed that this was all just a bad dream, but the incessant wobbling of the inevitable one bad wheel on the shopping cart kept reminding her that she was not asleep.

A translucent plastic enclosed her entire body except for a small cut out circle in front of her face. Behind her was a soft plastic material that form fitted to her back and legs and curled up and over her head. She was unable to move her legs or arms as the plastic cocoon held them firmly in place. She could move her fingers toes and she could feel a vinyl like material shaped like a miniskirt around her waist. She could only move her head slightly to the left or right and even less up and down. She could feel a sensation of movement, vibrations like being in the back of a truck. The vibrations stopped and she could feel a sudden elevation, then a bouncing movement, then a sudden stop. A ripping noise, then light blinded her. A few moments later, she felt a rapid upward movement and she saw the face of one of the company representatives lifting her cocoon up into the air, then she felt her being hung up on a rack. Still unable to move, she tried to look around her as far as her eyes could see without moving her head. She seemed to be in a huge room, bigger than a football stadium, but everything seemed far away and too huge from her perspective. She saw movement, people moving around. She yelled at the rep for help, but nothing came out of her mouth. She could see the rep pulling doll packages out of the box and hanging them on the store rack. In a panic, she tried to get the reps attention, but she seemingly was ignoring her. Confused, she tried just talking and whistling. She could feel her mouth and tongue forming the shapes to makes words, but she couldn't hear any of the words she was saying or even the whistling. She wasn't deaf, she knew. She could hear everything around her, though the sounds were muffled by the plastic cocoon. She heard voices, the sounds of shopping carts, cash registers dinging.....footsteps. "You won't be able to talk while you are miniaturized" suddenly remembering what the director had said.............

Twenty-four hours earlier:

It was every girl's dream. Now a few days after her 20th birthday, Regina had won a contest to be the model for a new line of dolls. These were not to be your grandmother's dolls. These 4-inch-tall dolls were as high tech as technology permitted. First off, the doll contained an endoskeleton that permitted joint movement closely resembling the articulation of a real human skeleton. The body and skin were made of a revolutionary vinyl, originally developed for the adult entertainment industry, that mimicked human skin and muscle. The skin felt like human skin and when it came in contact with actual human skin, it instantly absorbed the warmth of the person, so it felt as warm as a human body. The eyes even would close when the doll is laid down and open when held erect.

Regina arrived at the plant and was escorted to the R&D department. In order to make the doll as realistic as possible, Regina would be miniaturized while wearing a full body suit, then scanned with a 3-D imager in multiple poses. The director told her that she would not be able to talk while miniaturized as her tiny vocal cords wouldn't work with the normal sized air molecules. This process took a couple hours, then she dressed in the vinyl outfit the doll would come with and taken to a local movie studio. She had a photo shoot, then filmed as the doll, interacting with other dolls, everyday objects and normal sized actors, adult and children. Since she was unable to speak her lines during the filming, the director told her just to lip-sync her lines and they would record her lines later after she was restored to normal size. The photoshoot and the filming, then watching the film cuts several times to ensure they had everything they needed for the infomercial, took nearly 18 hours and Regina was exhausted by the time they were done, and she was taken back to R&D. Her assistant, who had been her handler all day, left her on a desk telling her that she would be back shortly while she tended to the restoration procedures, though she was actually going to meet her boyfriend in a vacant office for some.........."interoffice relationship". Regina looked around the desk and saw that about 100 of the dolls had been made already and were standing or lying all around her. One of the dolls was standing near a makeup mirror and when Regina looked at her reflection next to the doll, it took her breath away. The resemblance was perfect. If she stood perfectly still, no one would be able to tell which was the doll and which was her. Also on the desk were several of the clear plastic vacuform packages for the first run of the dolls. The removable vinyl floor length "wig" was already in place as well as all the printed paper inserts. By this time, she could barely keep her eyes open. Looking around for a place to take a nap until her assistant returns, she saw nothing that looked vaguely comfortable, but then, while a sly smile, she thought "Aren't these dolls molded exactly like me?" She climbed onto the back panel of one of the vacuform packages, laid down on the wig and within a minute, she was fast asleep.

The next morning:



"Mommy, Mommy, Mommy. Lookit. Lookit. The new tiny Barbies are out. I NEEEEEEEEEEEEED one !!!!!"

Looking to her left, she could see the little girl happily skipping alongside the shopping cart. Regina closed her eyes and prayed that this was all just a bad dream, but the incessant vibrations from the wobbling of the inevitably one bad wheel on the shopping cart kept reminding her that she was not asleep.

You must have missed that line. Look at the face in the picture and you can see the circular opening. It also caused a distortion in the size of her face compared to her body which is behind the clear plastic.

In the second story for that picture, I kinda explained it was caused by the effect of the air molecules in her breath passing over the vocal cords are larger in relation to her current size and it interferes with speaking. Hey, this is SciFi or Sci Fan, so who needs the rules of physics ?

It has been six months since Vickie was shrunken and abducted from the university lab. Through careful conditioning and social deprivation, her captor had just about convinced her that no one was missing her or cared about her but him. But one morning, she saw a familiar face on a milk carton.....

Jasmine was in her junior year of college when an accident in the Microbiophysiology Lab shrunk her to five inches. But she was a trooper and didn't want to leave school while the problem was researched. She moved in with her best friend and since there were no other jobs that she could find that she could do to pay her share of expenses, she took up tutoring other students in her major, Advanced Algebra and Physics. Her brother, who was a middle linebacker, or her roommate's boyfriend, a defensive tackle for the school football team, would take her to the dorm room, library or off campus housing so she could meet with her clients. And they served as silent "bodyguards" to keep her clients on the up and up, usually hanging out with her and her client, then taking her home or to her next job. One evening, she was asked by a guy named Warren, to help her with his Physics. Warren was a quiet, shy, almost nerdy kind of guy. Jasmine, having felt a little sorry for him, befriended him when she found out he really didn't have any friends at the school. They never did anything together but have lunch together in the cafeteria as he didn't have the courage to make a pass at such a beautiful girl anyway. When her brother arrived at Warren's dorm room, she told him that she would be fine, and he could take off and pick her up in two hours. However, had Jasmine glanced at his DVD collection, she would have seen boxed sets of "Land of the Giants", "Gulliver's Travels", and "Dr. Shrinker" DVDs. It seems Warren has a shrunken woman fetish, and he loses all his shyness when he alone with a tiny woman in his fantasies. After an hour, he lost interest in Physics and decided to indulge himself with this opportunity to live out his fantasy.
