Shortly after we separated my husband got to take our son out on Halloween but this year its my turn. Of course since then the Shroud Event has changed a few things, might size being one of them. Kevin got the idea that I should join rather than just be an observer. He is really into super heroes; Especially someone called Crimson Wing. That’s who he is dressed as. And guess who is going as Crimsons wing’s trusty pet and side kick? That’s it, you guessed it, me. I get to be “Firebird”. Its really an ensemble we threw together last minute to represent the bird sidekick. So last minute that I didn’t get to see how the costume would fit until hours before we hit the streets to collect candy. I would have called it off after I saw myself in the mirror after putting on the costume, damn thin keeps giving me a wedgy . But Kevin was so excited that I just couldn’t disappoint. So here I am, struggling to keep up with his huge stride. We’ve only gone to a few houses and my legs are already burning. He offered to carry me but so far my pride has held out. I don’t like the idea of the neighbors seeing me on my son’s hip while he collects his candy.
I think I can last a few more houses before I need uppies. At least I can say that this will be a more memorable Halloween than his father could ever conjure.
