The Big Bang Theory is getting another spin-off, this time as a bizarre off-the-wall sci-fi series titled "Stuart Fails to Save the Universe."

The pitch: https://tvline.com/news/big-bang-theory ... 235471975/
https://tvline.com/features/big-bang-th ... 235458543/
https://tvline.com/lists/big-bang-theor ... returning/

"Comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman) is tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon. Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise (Lauren Lapkus), geologist friend Bert (Brian Posehn) and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie). Along the way, they meet alternate-universe versions of characters we’ve come to know and love from The Big Bang Theory. As the title implies, things don’t go well."

It will supposedly heavily feature CGI and while no one else has confirmed anything, there's always the possibility that any of the original (female) cast could return - Mayim Bialik and Kaley Cuocco have stated they'd be up for it.

This one's coming from the BBC:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/2025/ ... ook-comedy
The BBC has commissioned Small Prophets (w/t), a new comedy created, written and directed by BAFTA-winning Mackenzie Crook (Detectorists, Worzel Gummidge) and produced by BAFTA-winning Gill Isles (Car Share, Alma’s Not Normal), from Treasure Trove Productions and Blue House Productions.

The six-part series is a comic tale of eccentric Michael Sleep (Pearce Quigley) who, since his darling Clea disappeared seven years ago, has lived a very ordinary life. He eats Shreddies, works in a DIY store, visits dad Brian (Sir Michael Palin) and hopes for Clea to return.

That is just the way it is, until one day dad Brian shares an old recipe involving rainwater, horse manure and more than a little alchemy. With recipe in hand, Michael sets out (albeit with some scepticism) to create Homunculi - magical prophesying spirits that can predict the future - in the hope they have the answer to his burning question, ‘will I ever see Clea again?’.

Michael gets help from young work mate Kacey (Lauren Patel), an unlikely friendship that blossoms partly (but not wholly) through their mutual dislike of store manager Gordon (Mackenzie Crook). Their friendship adds to the frustration and intrigue of his nosy neighbours (Sophie Willan, Jon Pointing) who are obsessed with trying to find out what the hell is going on in the garden shed.

Small Prophets (w/t) is filmed and set in and around Manchester. The series incorporates visually stunning animation elements throughout as we tell a story of friendships and hope, the magical and the mundane, and where secrets and lies lurk in a suburban cul-de-sac.
Homunculi are miniature human beings, and though they might be the animated elements in this series, the working title SMALL PROPHETS definitely suggests this is something to keep an eye on.

Apparently this is what Homunculi look like.

When I think of Homunculi, I always think of Fullmetal Alchemist. Seeing one outside of that series, among anything else animated, is kinda creepy.

Maybe off-tangent but the director wrote a children's book about fairies. Not the familiar kind though.

It's amazing how they can somehow take all the fun out of stuff like this.

https://geektyrant.com/news/roger-rabbi ... rom-disney

Gary K. Wolf, author of the Roger Rabbit series, has regained control of rights to all of his work from Disney and is in talks to start adapting them into live-action, likely including Jessica Rabbit's tiny sister Joellyn. The rollout is supposedly starting with a prequel starring Jessica Rabbit herself...who is human...and a secret agent...and explains the origins of Toon Town...and will somehow take place in the present because Toon Town is some kind of time-warped dimension...Jesus.

Wouldn't be surprised, either way. Disney did say that they're going in on AI with their stuff.

In the UK, I have started to see AI-generated adverts on big TV channels, like the latest MrQ campaign, full-on generative AI. Another one is from Secret Escapes for the "Pinch Me" campaign, where they may have filmed it for real and got an AI to do post, modify or something, it looks very odd.

Films and TV shows cannot be very far off, which is funny because reported in the US in particular this week, the short-term investment in AI on all levels has had zero contribution to the US economy and the cost of the short-term investment might never go in the black for years maybe decades into the future.

A more recent article cumulating the recent stories that started from Goldman Sachs: https://www.techradar.com/pro/basically ... my-in-2025

Again, I see AI as an aid, but I am against Generative AI, aka Text-to-Visual, because of how it is currently implemented. I think AI can aid us in daily tasks, a broad example of this would be the worker droids in Star Wars. Yes, there was a droid army, but they weren't the smartest droids in the galaxy and were essentially puppets, unlike the more independent worker droids

Minor head-up:

The trailer for The Boys season 5 dropped. At around :45, we have Starlight talking to Gen V's Jordan and Marie - no other indication of what the rest of the group is up to.

Found on the Cartoon Research Facebook group:

"Matt Baly, the creator of Amphibia, has a Kickstarter that launched today. It's for "Clara and the Below"--a pilot based off of the Nutcracker. It made its initial goal in 15 minutes and it has a few stretch goals."

"From "Amphibia" creator Matt Braly comes an animated Gothic horror spin on the Nutcracker full of wintery chills and somber vibes! Pledge now to make this episode one a reality!"

(There's an image, but I don't know how to link to Facebook posts.)

Also Braly is very anti-AI, you'll see in the article

lowkey my expectations for anything here is low, given the fact that the first one hardly ever touched either the Drink Me nor the Eat Me side of Wonderland at all.

Ok hear me out.
A new live-action Magic School Bus movie was announced recently.
And guess who it's starring...former SW, Elizabeth Banks.
https://variety.com/2026/film/news/magi ... 236787487/
For those of you who haven't seen the show, sometimes the class goes on field trips on a "smaller scale." There's a small chance, but still a chance nonetheless, that there could be a shrinking scene in this.

Of course, in the original The Magic School Bus, Miss Frizzle was voiced by Lily Tomlin, who also has been a SW. (Really going back to playing Edith Ann on Rowan and Martin's Laugh In.)

Quite a while ago, I read in TV Guide that there was going to be a new The Magic School Bus TV series, but with Miss Frizzle's sister, who was going to be voiced by Kristen Wiig, who almost was a SW in Downsizing. I wonder if that was ever made?
