Reporting same thing about Sony snagging the global distribution rights, but also mentions it's one of the "hot takes" at their slate presentation this Sunday. Makes me wonder if they'll be early footage coming soon.

No leaks yet but this says a full trailer premiered at an NBC event. Another item says it's part of their 2026 programming.

Here's an article on MediaPost, but you have to be a member to read it. I'm not a member, and though I may be willing to "take one for the team," I thought I'd ask if anyone else was already one first, even though that's probably doubtful.
I linked it because I love the headline and the beginning of the article.

I think it's supposed to be a trade journal - it's asking for the account holder's company and title. I tried to cheese it by entering as little info as they would accept and it seemed like I got an account but then I keep getting rejected and can't get a recovery email.scidram wrote: ↑Tue May 20, 2025 9:21 pmhttps://www.mediapost.com/publications/ ... ion=138533

Just glad they're seemingly confirming this is actually about SW - I know everything indicates that's what we're getting but I've been wary it could've been a bait-and-switch somehow.

Re: Elizabeth Banks to Star in "The Miniature Wife"
I got you folks.
Peacock’s show about an incredible shrinking woman sounds so ridiculous that it is like something out of the 1960s, which happened to be the silliest decade in TV history.
The decade of “The Munsters” and “Mister Ed” even had a fanciful series about little people among giants, “Land of The Giants” (1967-70).
And now the 2020s are getting one too -- “The Miniature Wife,” starring Elizabeth Banks as the little woman and Matthew Macfayden (photos above) as the absent-minded husband who shrinks his wife with an invention he has not yet perfected.
The series was announced last week at NBCUniversal’s Upfront at Radio City Music Hall. A trailer was shown in which the accidental shrinking takes place, and then mini-Elizabeth understandably berates her husband.
“ ‘The Miniature Wife’ is a high-concept marital dramedy examining the power (im)balances between spouses Lindy (Banks) and Les (Macfayden), who battle each other for supremacy after a technological accident induces the ultimate relationship crisis,” said a description from NBCU.
A “relationship crisis”? Ya think? I also loved the application of the term “high concept” to describe this show. The inevitable thing to write here is: “High? Probably.
In any case, “Honey, I Shrunk You” could have been the title of this show, but that IP is probably controlled by whomever owns “Honey, I Shrunk The Kids” and “Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves” (movies from 1989 and 1997, respectively).

First off, many, many thanks for the effort (any tips on how you accessed it in case we need to do something like this again?)
Second: "...mini-Elizabeth understandably berates her husband."
I swear, I'm going to see this with my own two eyes but my brain won't be able to believe it and just shut down.

Thanks so much, Eddie!
rscholar: Though the link I posted didn't work on my laptop, it works on my phone without an account. Go figure.
Guessing that trailer is from episode 1, but it appears that it's out there and awesome (even if the writer of the article says it's ridiculous). Since it's out there, it'll be coming soon. I can't tell you how many times a day I Google search stuff about the show.

Re: Elizabeth Banks to Star in "The Miniature Wife"
I understand the skepticism, as we've been disappointed before, but the short story describes her as "shrunk to the height of a coffee mug." If they keep that part true to the source material, that's about 4.5 inches, which is in the right ballpark of 6".Little Sally wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 10:51 pmWow! Six inches tall?
I doubt that's going to be true, but it would be nice if it was.![]()

Re: Elizabeth Banks to Star in "The Miniature Wife"
I don’t think I’ve ever been this hopeful and excited for a series ever, this series main focus is “The Miniature Wife” - I think the writers will use transformative storytelling and keep a tight focus on Elizabeth Banks’ character. I also think there will be something for everyone, I’m more into female interactions and hopefully there will be some of that given the casting. As far as sizing, 3-6 inches would be ideal from a creative standpoint, as writers are able to create interesting scenarios given that height
It’a incredibly challenging to come up with meaningful interactions at a smaller height, just my experience from writing

I'm a shrinking process guy, so I'm not as excited for this show as others. It should still be pretty good, and there might be some nice shots of EB in tiny makeshift clothes, which will be cool. But if they do the process off-screen or poof-shrink or some lame crap like that, I'll be pretty pissed. It's a visual medium, after all, and it's the central motivation for the plot. I hope they give us a good sequence, but I'm expecting to be disappointed.
It's going to be weird if the show is popular to have normies talking about it, random promos on TV, the eventual SNL appearance. I'm going to have to pretend that I haven't been anticipating this show for over a year.

If it's like the story, it'll be a blink-and-you-miss-it occurrence. Like she will be shocked and confused, and then immediately understand what happened before losing her temper and cursing him out with a shrill, high-pitched voice. Sorry, shrinky. Still a big win overall!
I hear you on that. The show is going to Peacock only, right? Or elsewhere now that Sony is distributing it? I don't know if it'll be a huge hit but we are all hoping it is for for so very many reasons. If it is and it becomes a water-cooler topic it's gonna be awkward for those of us out there in the workforce.

I agree. That is why I like the not-so-small sizes. It is easier for them to try and do stuff. Having a bunch of shrinkies works too. I've mentioned before that I'm not very excited about this. If a marriage is about "power dynamics" it is already a bad marriage, so I fear this will just be some toxic writer's diatribe. Also, Banks is 51. I doubt she will do much running around or climbing furniture.MollySmalls wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 2:45 pmIt’a incredibly challenging to come up with meaningful interactions at a smaller height, just my experience from writing
We are only 2-4 years away from an AI making whole movies for us, so we only have to put up with Hollywood for a bit longer.

Re: Elizabeth Banks to Star in "The Miniature Wife"
Never understood this obsession for the so called "process". Isn't the point of the shrunken woman fantasy about the woman being small? And not how long it took before she became small.shrinky wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 6:57 pmI'm a shrinking process guy, so I'm not as excited for this show as others. To me the fun is what happens after the event and not the shrinking event itself, and from what we've heard so far it's promising to be a fascinating watch.
I'm not knocking your preferences btw (each to their own and all that), but the actual process of shrinking has never interested me a great deal.

Re: Elizabeth Banks to Star in "The Miniature Wife"
The story was about a marriage that clearly already very unhealthy. I think a very functional relationship wouldn’t make for good television. I mean, look at most of the big shows. People love conflict.
Also, don’t underestimate women of any age or size. I’m pretty sure Elizabeth Banks is up to the task of dangerous miniature woman, and will look great while doing it.
Guys, chin up! This is a big win. We’re getting a whole season of a tiny woman! We’re probably going to get a lot of new people interested in the subject which is good for all of us.

I have no doubt Elizabeth Banks is game for both the emotional and physical demands of the role. And yeah, the short story implies their relationship had issues before the shrinking incident. And if you've ever heard the adaptation on the Snap Judgement podcast (https://soundcloud.com/snapjudgment/min ... p-judgment), it implies that maybe...
SpoilerShow
he either purposely shrank her or deliberately keeps her that way. More than enough implications to stretch the short story to series length.
Shrinky, as a fellow process fan, I can understand this sentiment. I doubt it will be off-screen, but it will either be poof or a quick shrink. This isn't an Incredible Shrinking Woman kind of story. The source material isn't about her getting progressively smaller; it's about her presence being diminished and her fighting back against being kept. That requires her to get small quickly.shrinky wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 6:57 pmI'm a shrinking process guy, so I'm not as excited for this show as others. But I'm also a general shrunken woman fan, and while there's no way it can meet everyone's needs here, I believe this is going to be the best mainstream shrunken woman content we've ever had.

It's true, it's probably going to be a high water mark for the fandom. There will be a lot to enjoy, for sure. I am familiar with the source material and I'm not expecting ISW of course, but I was hoping the accidental shrinking might be something in the realm of that Red Parrot video, or like that comic page I have on my DA. Not poof, but a nice little sequence. But I have a feeling we will have to wait for the next big thing.

Re: Elizabeth Banks to Star in "The Miniature Wife"
Some updates on the IMDb page ( https://www.imdb.com/title/tt31909098/ ):
More people are added to the cast, including one credited with the part of "Young Lulu." This implies to me that (1) Lindy (Elizabeth Banks) & Les (Matthew Macfayden) may have a daughter--which is something I hypothesized based on the earlier casting of 19-year-old Sofia Rosinsky, and (2) the series will employ flashbacks to previous times in their marriage.
Also, the episode list indicates 14 episodes, listing 13 of them as season 1 and one episode in season 2 ( https://www.imdb.com/title/tt31909098/e ... =tt_ov_epl ). This breakdown seems a little unreliable to me that they'd list a singular episode for a second season since it's supposed to be a limited series. But if there's 14--or even 13--episodes, that's awesome! A previous release says it's an hour-long comedy drama. Potentially thirteen hours worth of shrunken Elizabeth Banks? WOW!

Anyone in Australia, the show's "coming soon" at a local streaming service. Hope someone in Southeast Asia picks this up.

Unrelated note, the same Australian streamer's starting production on a series about... evil lawn gnomes
Senior Sergeant Arnold Kipps is having the worst day of his life. His ex-partner returns to Nompton to shut down his police station, just as an ancient evil is awakened by the Gnome Queen who unleashes a hellish horde, plunging the town into chaos.

By the by, been meaning to ask: does anyone have any ideas or plans on how to actually watch any of this? Obviously we've been able to grab Gen V stuff from Prime after a while but I was just wondering if someone had Peacock or knew where to possibly find or make clips.
