Re: Upcoming Shows + Movies with Potential
The Big Bang Theory is getting another spin-off, this time as a bizarre off-the-wall sci-fi series titled "Stuart Fails to Save the Universe."
The pitch: https://tvline.com/news/big-bang-theory ... 235471975/
https://tvline.com/features/big-bang-th ... 235458543/
https://tvline.com/lists/big-bang-theor ... returning/
"Comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman) is tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon. Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise (Lauren Lapkus), geologist friend Bert (Brian Posehn) and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie). Along the way, they meet alternate-universe versions of characters we’ve come to know and love from The Big Bang Theory. As the title implies, things don’t go well."
It will supposedly heavily feature CGI and while no one else has confirmed anything, there's always the possibility that any of the original (female) cast could return - Mayim Bialik and Kaley Cuocco have stated they'd be up for it.

This one's coming from the BBC:

Homunculi are miniature human beings, and though they might be the animated elements in this series, the working title SMALL PROPHETS definitely suggests this is something to keep an eye on.The BBC has commissioned Small Prophets (w/t), a new comedy created, written and directed by BAFTA-winning Mackenzie Crook (Detectorists, Worzel Gummidge) and produced by BAFTA-winning Gill Isles (Car Share, Alma’s Not Normal), from Treasure Trove Productions and Blue House Productions.
The six-part series is a comic tale of eccentric Michael Sleep (Pearce Quigley) who, since his darling Clea disappeared seven years ago, has lived a very ordinary life. He eats Shreddies, works in a DIY store, visits dad Brian (Sir Michael Palin) and hopes for Clea to return.
That is just the way it is, until one day dad Brian shares an old recipe involving rainwater, horse manure and more than a little alchemy. With recipe in hand, Michael sets out (albeit with some scepticism) to create Homunculi - magical prophesying spirits that can predict the future - in the hope they have the answer to his burning question, ‘will I ever see Clea again?’.
Michael gets help from young work mate Kacey (Lauren Patel), an unlikely friendship that blossoms partly (but not wholly) through their mutual dislike of store manager Gordon (Mackenzie Crook). Their friendship adds to the frustration and intrigue of his nosy neighbours (Sophie Willan, Jon Pointing) who are obsessed with trying to find out what the hell is going on in the garden shed.
Small Prophets (w/t) is filmed and set in and around Manchester. The series incorporates visually stunning animation elements throughout as we tell a story of friendships and hope, the magical and the mundane, and where secrets and lies lurk in a suburban cul-de-sac.

When I think of Homunculi, I always think of Fullmetal Alchemist. Seeing one outside of that series, among anything else animated, is kinda creepy.

Maybe off-tangent but the director wrote a children's book about fairies. Not the familiar kind though.scidram wrote: ↑Mon Jul 14, 2025 1:20 pmThis one's coming from the BBC:

It's amazing how they can somehow take all the fun out of stuff like this.

Gary K. Wolf, author of the Roger Rabbit series, has regained control of rights to all of his work from Disney and is in talks to start adapting them into live-action, likely including Jessica Rabbit's tiny sister Joellyn. The rollout is supposedly starting with a prequel starring Jessica Rabbit herself...who is human...and a secret agent...and explains the origins of Toon Town...and will somehow take place in the present because Toon Town is some kind of time-warped dimension...Jesus.

Heaven forbid they advance the timeline of an IP.rscholar wrote: ↑Wed Nov 12, 2025 4:37 amhttps://geektyrant.com/news/roger-rabbi ... rom-disney
