seems like they posted a short teaser just recently.

https://x.com/genv/status/1962189559745392812

its only a split second but we get tiny Emma around the 5 second mark. despite being tiny, she is quite bigger here, being roughly the same size as the smartphone she is carrying. We also see in the background someone's feet, but whose feet they are, its unsure.

Great catch, and great prop design!

Her outfit looks similar to the one she's wearing in the beer-pong clip, and her hair has a recently-wet look to it. Could be after the beer pong.

hey nice catch on the outfit! I checked it with the other trailer and it definitely matches the look. This must be at the same scene. she must have went down the floor in this one.

Looking back, she may have gotten a little bigger prolly cuz she must of swallowed some beer in that cup she landed on.

I love when they do stuff like this. Wouldn't mind seeing her smaller though...

First three episodes are out this morning. A quick scan of the material shows a shrinking scene in the first episode (a little past the halfway mark? i dont remember timecodes sorry) - new effect, it's more of a 'poof shrink' type of thing, in the bathroom of the party that she eventually get's beer ponged in. thats the following scene. I think I saw the giantess scene from the trailer as well.

not only that, it also confirms that her size is relative to her emotional state too. In episode 2 her building excitement causes her to grow exponentially, while when she was upset she shrunk instantaneously. adding on to this, it seems like pep talking her way back to normal size doenst work either.

Good old foreverlurk posted a clip of a new character, Harper, who has the power to copy other people's powers. Including Emma's.

Quick recap for those who didn't or can't watch...sorry I have no ability to post videos. I'm going to block the items below in case some of you don't want to read spoilers. I don't talk much about the plot, though, just describe the shrinking scenes.

Episode 1.
SpoilerShow
Emma goes to a party, and suffers an attack of self-esteem, sending her to the bathroom where she looks in a mirror and tries to regain control of herself, but fails and shrinks right out of her clothes in an almost instantaneous zoop-shrink. You don't see her in the clothes, you just hear her swear before they cut away.

Next time you see her she's up on the sink looking in the mirror, just a couple inches tall and wrapped in a piece of cloth. She tries to motivate herself in the mirror but fails and when someone else knocks on the bathroom door and demands to be let in, she grabs the outfit off a hula girl doll.

Next time we see her, she is being flung across the room in the beer pong clip we've all seen. She lands in a solo cup and we get a nice overhead shot of her swimming inside it.

Next scene she is sitting in the foreground next to a lamp, still just inches tall, while two partygoers are watching videos on their phone. A video comes up involving Emma's friends and she demands to see the phone. The guy sets the phone on the table and Emma stands there looking at it. Next shot the phone is gone and the guy demands to know where his phone went. Cut to tiny Emma running across the floor lugging the giant phone over her head in one of the best SW visuals ever as she ducks between shoes racing toward her friend, yelling up to get his/her attention. She holds up the giant phone for him/her to look at.

That's it for this episode, but it's a really good one, a must watch if you can somehow get onto Prime TV. I sure hope we get a nice handheld or grab or pickup scene one of these days.
Episode 2
SpoilerShow
has no shrinking, but Emma grows to giant size when she gets excited about learning a new piece of information, and you see her covering herself in the background of a records room, which would be a good scene for you if you're bi-sizual. (lol)

We do learn some exposition when Emma explains that she can now basically make herself shrink at will by invoking self-hatred, but until this point she's not been able to make herself grow. She was, however, high at the time she got bigger, so she still can't quite control this part. We saw her eating pizza at the end of the shrinking scenes in episode 1, so I guess horking down food is still her go-to means of growing.
Episode 3,
SpoilerShow
Emma stays the same size throughout, but we meet a new chameleon character who can absorb another super's powers for 60 seconds (see previous entry with the video from foreverlurk as posted by ensmallen). She touches Emma and shrinks herself out of her clothes, and we get a nice overhead shot of her in the pooled outfit, only to have her grow back to normal a few seconds later and complain about having to put her stuff back on. Since the power absorption only lasts 60 seconds I doubt we'll see much more shrinking out of her in the series, but who knows.

Side note, there is a bit of a sausage fest in this episode when Emma runs through a locker room. I really think the writers of this show just love showing dicks on screen (especially annoying when they'll happily flop those around all day long but won't let us see Emma's bare chest even for a moment).
Episode 4 and up were not yet released so we'll have to wait another week for more potential SW content.

Thanks for the recap Min! I'll add my 2 cents but they *will* involve the spoilers so don't read on if you're still catching up.

The initial shrink in the bathroom was disappointingly brief. I'm guessing between this and the explosive growth later that her size change is going to be instant from now on. The bit with the purging and gorging (which now I think was always the stand-in for her emotions being the Cassie Lang-esq trigger so all that "size depends on stomach contents" I at least was grousing on last year can just get chucked out a window *shrug*) seemed to lend itself to be a more gradual change so now that she understands herself the poof will be the new normal.

The bit with her standing on the sink trying to pep talk herself was awesome - great far and close views, Emma switching between bravado and desperation, an honest-to-god tissue toga, just great. The party stuff was cute (I loved her sitting on the lamp base swinging her little feet awkwardly) but the scurrying across the floor bit was also fantastic - I actually kept thinking of when I wrote the Shrinkfan story about shrinking She-Beast and she was running out of the restaurant carrying her stuff overhead while ducking between giant legs.

Episode 2 as mentioned didn't have shrinking but...god Lizzie Broadway is adorable. I really think, SW aside, she's a fantastic actress and endlessly charming. I'll probably be going back to that infiltration bit with Polaris just enjoy her being trippy again.

Just an aside - I don't remember Jordan ever being shown on-screen changing forms, but I thought during the arena fight that the switch from male to female, while instant, kind've came off like shrinking (I know, reaching, just a thought).

Also, Emma responding to her influencer teacher suggesting she use sex appeal in her videos:

"I'm not *influencing* anyone's erections."

..............between the fan hookup from the season 1 and, well, us......I've never felt so amused and annoyed at the same time.

Episode 3 - holy crap we have a potential *second* recurring SW (I'm sure not all that likely but maybe possibly at least one more time this season). Her little smirk after shrinking out of her clothes was super sexy.

IDK why, but shy and insecure girls shrinking from being shy and insecure has always been one of my favorites ways for a girl to shrink.... this is actually peak. Shame it was a "woosh blink and you miss it" shrink. Maybe she’s have an episode where she spirals and she slowly shrinks out of control until she's microscopic? One can hope....

I might be seeing what I want to see, but it seemed to me that she had already shrunk a little as she is entering the bathroom and standing at the sink. The sleeves of her shirt are longer than in the previous shot, and the sink appears ratherlarge. I know she's petite, but I wonder if there was an attempt at an effect there.

Also, while the shrinking was virtually instantaneous, they put some effort into the 'shrinking out of clothes' effect. From a special effects stand-point, a decent effort was made in both episodes 1 and 3. We got some pretty decent fan service from this series, and even though the clips won't be in my personal 'best of' list, I appreciate that they added something to the genre.

I've noticed the clothes thing too and I'm pretty sure she's absentmindedly tugging on the sleeves or readjusting herself. I know I just said poof is probably the main method now, but in season 1 her mom asked if she was eating because she looked a few inches shorter so minor shrinking is presumably possible, probably from being under constant low-grade stress (she mentions to Polaris she's been taking Xanax for anxiety...except when it isn't:) ) while the big upsets like her run-ins with Sam make her go completely out of control.

Also, it's been pointed out that the costumers pay attention to detail - her season 1 outfit was supposedly an actual Polly Pocket replica and when she grew slightly it became tighter and higher on her body and she lost her little yellow shoes in the holding cell. It's possible that it really is a subtle Easter egg that acts like a barometer for her emotions.

The show's creators (not just Gen V but its predecessor The Boys) seem to have the idea that blowing people up and showing the most disgusting, vile imagery is somehow endearing in its horribleness, but all they've done is made it so over-the-top that after it happens a couple of times you just cease caring and roll your eyes and move on. It's quite the twist on the classic boy-cried-wolf story: seeing someone explode once is grotesque and disgusting, twice is meh, and after that it's "yeah whatever." I wouldn't watch a show so crude and cruel except for the SW parts, and wouldn't blame anyone else for doing the same.

I mean, seriously, in the first season of Gen V, tiny Emma literally crawls into a guy's ear, and burrows through his brain to come out the other side, without showing a hint of remorse about wantonly murdering him, as if such a thing should be completely normal and an everyday occurrence. I would not like living in a world like that, SW or no SW.

I apologize for nitpicking, but she actually did express remorse - when she and Sam had escaped the cell and she first woke up, she remembered what happened and, even though Sam thanked her for stopping him, she said something like "But he could've had a family, kids!"

To yours and Prof Sai's points though, I 100% agree that the showrunners are doing dark for dark's sake and I too found myself rolling my eyes at a lot of stuff and have been noticing they seem especially interested in coming up with powers for students just to show the crazy dumb stuff (examples include the indestructible guy who got his arms ripped off, the guy having sex with that weird dolphin girl, and now, a guy who has an inter-dimensional in his ass and showed another guy's head poking out of it [it's not even original - Family Guy did it first!]). Based on at least some reviews I've seen, Emma constantly seems to be the standout character people gravitate to and I think it's because, despite her messed up life and self-hatred, she's usually the sweet spunky one who gets to be funny and be helpful in contrast to the crapsack world they live in.

Hell, about not wanting to live in that world? Emma interrogates that coffee shop barista about the Resist signs (revealed to be Harper's doing) and the woman is *terrified* someone will blame her - my only thoughts were "No job is worth keeping with that kind of danger" and "She's going to die before the episode's over" (she didn't, but I bet she's marked for later)

I feel like I want to post in that General SW thread I started during season 1 because Emma's problems and the tone of the show really do put a damper on things and I realized something that's been bugging me that I just put my finger on - suffice to say, even though the shrinking can be fun and funny in a general sense, it's rarely considered a positive thing and bizarrely no one - not even any of the girls who might be more appreciative of that kind of thing - ever told Emma she was, like, cute. I mean, she's a living doll! Someone throw her a compliment for God's sake!

I'm pretty sure that Dean of Student Life woman--the one with the bee-stinger on her ass)--told Emma that she was f*ckable in the first episode. Granted, it wasn't while Emma was tiny, but it was said.

Now changing the topic to my thoughts on the episodes.

Despite it being a whoosh-shrink, episode 1 had one of the best shrunken woman sequences I've seen in a long time. Emma on the sink, wrapped in what had to be toilet paper, trying to motivate herself to grow was perfectly acted and filmed. The beer-pong toss we saw in the previous, but showing her treading water--er, beer--in the cup was icing on that cake. Her sitting on the lamp on the end table, dangling her feet, was adorable. But OH MY, the prop construction on the smartphone she carried as she avoided getting stepped on was amazing. Loved how when she finally found Jordan, she had to use her whole body to prop it up to show the video. None of our "vintage" SW clips have involved the tiny with a smartphone because they didn't exist before the late 00s, so this is among the first to really show that, and it was amazing.

Episode 2 had the well-done growth scene, but this isn't the forum to say much more other than the effects were great.

Episode 3 had the great surprise of seeing someone else shrink. And little Harper looked adorable peeking up out of her oversized clothes. Again, some seamless effects and great dialogue about Harper being better at the size powers than Emma and the inconvenience of shrinking out of clothes. And is it just me, or is Harper's tail, though a literal pain in the ass for her--is kinda hot?

These effects so far this season bode well for what The Miniature Wife might look like, seeing that they share at least one effects company.

Episode 4 was pretty good both in some content and overall moving the plot along, although the actual "sexiness" is severely hampered.

SpoilerShow
In trying to learn more about Cipher and stop an exhibition match between Jordan and Marie, Cate joins Emma and the other girls (the other one is Ally) in tricking Cipher to confess his secrets on a camera Emma plants. We get the trailer scene of her tiny going into a water pipe, but a maintenance worker turns the water back on and almost drowns her until Ally covertly shuts it off (her powers are hair manipulation...just not from her head  ). Emma ends up in a toilet in Cipher's office struggling to escape when he of course has to go and we see - drum roll please - more twig n' berries   . Emma barely escapes and meets up with Cate (there's a brief shot of Cate looking down at her) to plant the camera...only for Cipher to have known all along. I feel there's some obvious clues how.

The spy scene is the only actual SW scene and, "members only" aside, it's really well done - Emma is really struggling in the giant bowl, barely squeezes under the toilet seat, and drops to the floor - the perspective shots are incredible.

Character-wise, Emma is bonding with her misfit crew and trying to understand her powers better which dovetails nicely with Cipher training Marie - in the end, Harper points out Emma got back to normal and Emma responds she was too tired to think about concentrating - like Marie, she's able to "feel" it now. Good stuff!

I don't want to diminish the enthusiasm of a shrinking woman in a major show, but The Boys almost seems contractually obligated to show male naughty bits. Yet, we saw two women shrink out of their clothes, and even comment on the inconvenience on the size change leaving them nude, and.....nothing.

I love The Boys and Gen V, but this is a major recurring issue I have with Kripke and pop culture in general.

People have learned to be more respectful of women's bodies and I think that's great and important. But I think men have been left behind in the body positivity movement and a part of that is that a woman's body is something to be respected, and a man's body is an acceptable punchline. Similarly an overweight woman is "big and beautiful" but an overweight man is still the butt of the joke.

I actually think that's a bigger reflection on the audience. Certain creators want to tell dirty jokes and make jokes about rape (The Boys Season 4) but they know that doing that to women is strictly unacceptable by the audience, so they don't. The audience doesn't protest nearly as much about it happening to men, so they do. It's not about what they think is okay, it's what the audience is actually gonna do something about.

Anyway, love the special effects. Emma is great and it was nice to see her have a little friend.

I know some of that cultural shift of using male nudity as a punchline started a few years ago with some of the raunchy comedies coming out in the late 00s (ie. Forgetting Sarah Marshall).

Don't get me wrong, nudity isn't a requirement for me to enjoy SW content. For example, I'm not expecting any in The Miniature Wife, as Elizabeth Banks doesn't do nudity. But, you'd think a show like The Boys might. Oh well.

Good stuff!
Hopefully with guidance from Emma's new posey, she can go sizeshift at will now and wont need to gorge or puke food every so second.
I need more tiny Emma!
