You make excellent points. Several of the supporting cast members--Aasif Mandvi, Ronny Chieng, Tricia Black, and now Shaun Majumder--are comedians as well as actors. This is being billed as a romantic dramedy, so these casting choices really lean into the comedy of the situation. I'll bet you're right that they're likely coworkers of Les for that reason.

The "Upscale Patron" in a later episode might be a pivotal flashback or something like that.

Wonder if that's supposed to be Elizabeth's stunt double in the last photo.

I had never considered that being her stunt double. Could be.

Now that Peacock has released The Paper, I'm expecting we're not too far away from a trailer. According to Peacock's Wikipedia page, there isn't much of their upcoming programming that has advanced to post-production (only The Copenhagen Test). It says The Miniature Wife is still filming, but we know that's true, and it probably just hasn't been updated yet.

Peacock chose to release all 10 episodes of The Paper at once, but I'm hoping they don't do that with The Miniature Wife. I believe it will be more fun for us to discuss each episode individually than for us all to be at different places. Some of us don't have the ability to binge 13 hours of television as soon as the series drops, and I'd rather we be in sync and draw this out as long as we can.

Hope that trailer shows up soon, scidram. Just for kicks, used Gemini and a prompt from this link to make a super-lazy image real quick:

*Possible* minor date update:

MW is set to screen at the MIPCOM Cannes trade show on October 13 followed by a Q&A (seemingly not with Banks though).

There are a few articles about this, but one from FormatBiz says the show is slated for next year:

"Global distribution is handled by SPT, with the U.S. premiere slated for Peacock in 2026."

Don't know why IMDB still says 2025 but it's really looking like it'll be next year.

You know, with all the necessary post-production a show like this likely has, I was highly doubting a 2025 release. Let's hope it's an early 2026 release.

We know a trailer was shown at the NBCUniversal Upfronts event at Radio City Music Hall in May (Elizabeth Banks was there), and at the LA Screenings around the same time (Matthew Mcfadyen was there). It stands to reason that whatever is being shown at the October 13 MIPCOM event is likely going to be more than whatever was shown before. After all, the show is all filmed, and by Oct. 13, there will have been about three months full of post-production. I'm hoping that the first public trailer is released shortly thereafter.

I went to the MIPCOM site, specifically the Ways to Participate tab. Anyone willing/able to spend the €1,740 for a visitor pass, and however much it costs to get to Cannes and stay there for four days, and report back? ;)

I respect you shooting your shot, but I may have oversold the love. It's not that kind of love. More of the, thanks for all you do, I don't have any money, kind of love.

In all seriousness though I look forward to your updates. I'm so excited about this show and I think it's probably going to have a huge impact on our community. This has the potential to scratch a lot of our collective itches (short of explicitly erotic material).

Haha!

Wasn't asking for me, though I'd gladly accept such a generous offer. Was asking in general if anybody could go and report back to the rest of us. The way the article phrases it as a SCREENING of The Miniature Wife implies that it's more than just a trailer. It might be at least part of an episode. And if the point of the event is to screen it for potential buyers, it's gotta show some of the good stuff.

Got a quick update from the Full Cast & Crew IMDB page:

Some stunt performers are credited:

Daniel Lavigne is listed as O.T. Fagbenle's stunt double for 1 episode.

Ana Shepherd is listed as stunts / stunt driving double for Sofia Rosinsky for 10 episodes. I've long-predicted Sofia Rosinsky will play their daughter, and I can imagine a scenario where a stunt driving double for a daughter character is needed. Maybe she's rescuing her tiny mom or something. But for her to have an extensive stunt double for 10 episodes? What could that mean? And interestingly enough, Ana Shepherd has done stunt work for Gen V.

Link only says she doubles for Sofia for one episode, doesn't say who she doubles for the 9 other times she gets a credit. Weird.

Yeah, that is odd.

Hasn't been much to update lately, other than all sources indicate that the show will have a 2026 release, which I think we all kinda knew by now.

However, October 13 is the opening night of MIPCOM, where there'll be an exclusive screening of the show. Not sure whether that include an extended trailer, the first episode, and/or more. Either way, there's a possibility something gets released shortly thereafter. The event kicks off at 6pm local time in Cannes, France. That's six hours ahead of me here on the US East Coast, and I have that day off due to the holiday, so I'm hoping to be scouring the web that afternoon to see if anything gets mentioned or released. If I catch anything, I'll share here and add it to my compendium.

Fingers crossed.

Just putting this here, read the story a long time ago but never imagined it was going to be the one that finally gets me to read that last line.

Tried looking for more cast members, this one's interesting since he's credited in five episodes and gets named "Bob the Explainer". ???
https://resumes.breakdownexpress.com/on ... 4514-33982
https://comedybar.ca/gavin-williams

Also looked up the guy credited as "Big Fan" on IMDb, says he shows up in the first episode as a "Principal", means lots of screen time right?
https://resumes.actorsaccess.com/1098766-3106894

Also found a handful of other "Recurring" credits and maybe guest stars and background actors.

I know only Greg Mottola's been publicized as a director, but several of those resumes credit other directors:

Miguel Arteta - directed an episode of Succession starring Matthew Macfadyen
Katie Ellwood - directed episodes of Hawkeye and The Walking Dead
Fernando Frias - directed episodes of Our Flag Means Death along with Katie Ellwood

Thanks for your research!

Five episodes as "Bob the Explainer"??? What's that mean? Now, that's likely his personal resume, and he is a comedian, so maybe he plays a character named Bob who happens to explain a lot, so he's being funny. Either that, or "Bob the Explainer" might be a media personality in the world of the show--maybe a TV show that shrunken Lindy binge-watches on her cell phone in the dollhouse.

As for "Big Fan"/"Principal", I wouldn't take much stock in him being a major character. My guess is that he's a principal at a school, either one that Les & Lindy's daughter attends or one where Lindy speaks at. Maybe both.

The other recurring and guest actors are likely going to be in the background, such as people working at Les's lab or maybe people who worked with Lindy either in pre-shrink flashbacks or post-shrink wondering where she is.

And that last line is a big--er, little?--one. There's no doubt that she's shrunk for a majority of the series. 2026 can't come soon enough!

And I still think after October 13, we're going to get something. Or at least hear something new. My guess is that the trailer shown at the Upfronts events in May were rough with minimal post-production effects, staying mainly to practical effects such as oversized sets. This screening has to be at least the first episode with maybe a sizzle reel of scenes from throughout the series that really emphasize the special effects. A trailer for the public is coming soon, and I can't wait to dissect it.

Found what looks like an official episode count. According to THIS ARTICLE posted on the Deadline website this morning, we can expect 10 60-minute episodes (10 x 60'):
Sony Pictures Television

Length: 10 x 60’
Producer: Media Res
Network: Peacock

Sony is going big on The Miniature Wife in Cannes with a screening in the famed Grand Auditorium at MIPCOM. Stars Matthew Macfadyen, O-T Fagbenle, and Sian Clifford are headed to the Cote D’Azur and will be in attendance.

In a TV world in which commissioners are often accused of being risk-averse, the series lives up to its high-concept billing, which is one way to pique buyer interest at a MIPCOM market awash in drama. The 10-parter is produced by Media Res and based on the short story written by Manuel Gonzalez about a man who accidentally shrinks his wife.

The series examines the power balance, or imbalance, between spouses. The couple in question are Lindy, played by Elizabeth Banks, and Les, played by Macfadyen. They battle each other for supremacy after the shrinking accident and the understandable relationship crisis that ensues.

A blend of comedy and drama, the show will play on Peacock in the U.S. next year. Sony Pictures Television is on sales duty. Mike Wald, SPT’s co-president, distribution & Network: s, says buzz has been building among international acquisition execs since the studio gave them a sneak peek at this year’s LA Screenings in May.

“Buyers everywhere are chasing bold content that commands attention and delivers marketing muscle,” he says. “With The Miniature Wife, you start with a high-concept idea that is both fresh and wildly inventive, add in huge star power led by Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfadyen, and you have a series that will overdeliver for any service.”

Wald adds that the show could land with various types of buyers. “What makes this series so great to sell is that it is suitable for any audience and that has certainly been reflected in the early interest we have seen, from streamers to pay-TV to free-TV.”

Jennifer Ames (Boardwalk Empire) and Steve Turner(Goliath), are showrunners and exec producers. Other cast includes Zoe Lister-Jones and Sofia Rosinsky as regulars, and Ronny Chieng, Aasif Mandvi, Rong Fu and Tricia Black in recurring roles. The MIPCOM crowd will get to see one episode at the market screening.

This contradicts the 14-episode run noted on the IMDB page, but I never fully trusted that number because it listed 13 episodes in Season 1 and 1 episode in Season 2. For a streaming show, 10 episodes seems pretty standard. For some cast members, especially some bit parts, they list on their IMDB page which episodes they're in, and some are listed for episode 12 (1.12). It's possible that the scripts or filming schedule broke it into 13 episodes, which are then edited to a final 10. Who knows? But this seems more accurate than anything before.

Additionally, it seems to confirm that the exclusive screening next Monday at MIPCOM will be one episode, which I'm assuming would be the first episode. That means there will be miniaturizing in that episode because that would be part of the big selling points after the A-list leads, anyway. Maybe the episode starts with a scene from late the story, with Lindy shrunk and feral-ish and them in battle mode, and then voiceover from Les with the opening lines of the short story: "The truth of the matter is: I have managed to make my wife very, very small. This was done unintentionally. This was an accident." That would be cool!

Oh, and have a picture of Les and Lindy, presumably before she gets shrunk. Don't they look cute?

Got another tweet. Not a production still and/or promo image, but a new description:

"Marriage is all about compromise. Unless you accidentally shrink your wife. Then it’s war."

https://x.com/skytv/status/197583355262 ... k0prQ&s=19

This implies we're getting something close to the source material, but probably more in a War of the Roses kind of way.

That's just the same cheap effect handheld we always get. I'm really sick of the open hand standing or sitting. It's really a dangerous way to hold a SW. I want to see some grasping handhelds.

Finally a screenshot! Ooh the character dynamics, and mood of Elizabeth Banks here...she looks so frustrated, I love it! Although I'd prefer her to be a little smaller, this is going to be quite the experience regardless. Here's a few of my takes to celebrate :D

That's a cool find. Thanks, ensmallen!

Piecing these promo images and/or production stills together, along with other pieces of information we've gotten along the way:
1) Pre-shrunk times seem to occur around the holiday season, as the background of what appears to be a restaurant has Christmas-like decorations. If we assume that Lindy and Les have had some marital issues--though they're joyful expressions when they're hugging suggests otherwise--I can envision them making a New Year's Resolution to work on their marriage. Then shit happens.

2) In the original story, the husband narrator is an expert at miniaturizing things, and he has several different processes for doing so. Therein was the issue, as he didn't know which method miniaturized her so didn't know how to restore her. Or maybe he didn't want to in the story because, after all, he was definitely an unreliable narrator. This newest promo image implies Les can shrink all sorts of stuff, as Lindy is holding a bullhorn. I can accept a shrinking scenario where she gets shrunk in her pink pajamas, but I doubt she was holding the bullhorn at the moment she was shrunk. And since working bullhorns don't come in reduced sizes, it means that he must have shrunk it for her. And that means...

3) They're going to address that Lindy's unaided miniaturized voice doesn't carry very well, hence the need for the bullhorn. The fact that the writers and production team considered this indicates an added level of realism when presenting a miniaturized person. That's AWESOME, and it makes me insanely curious what other details like that we're going to get.

4) Lindy's pink pajamas are cute and may be her go-to costume. If you're shrunk and stuck in a dollhouse, as the husband provides in the story, why dress up. She will likely go through a phase where she's just lounging about the dollhouse, bored out of her mind. Maybe binge-watching streaming shows on a normal-sized cellphone while eating ice cream or chocolate.

5) Whether or not the handheld image is a promo or production still doesn't matter. I'm not worried about the open-hand holding method because this is a single image. Just the fact that they're showing a handheld image could mean they occur in the show, and maybe we will get the kind we'd like.

This is gonna be AMAZING!

The "real thing" could easily end up worse than what Scidram has done here. If they are purists about AI, they are unlikely to do much of anything better that what we have seen before.
