Re: Gen V Season 2
I don't even care about nudity. I'm just hoping to see some good handhelds with Emma, grabbed in a loose fist or stuff like that. And maybe she gets a mission where she has to infiltrate some place by pretending to be a doll and given to someone. Kind of like in that old movie Devil Doll.Sdk3 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 8:23 pmI know some of that cultural shift of using male nudity as a punchline started a few years ago with some of the raunchy comedies coming out in the late 00s (ie. Forgetting Sarah Marshall).Nropyub wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 8:02 pmI love The Boys and Gen V, but this is a major recurring issue I have with Kripke and pop culture in general.Sdk3 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 5:28 pmI don't want to diminish the enthusiasm of a shrinking woman in a major show, but The Boys almost seems contractually obligated to show male naughty bits. Yet, we saw two women shrink out of their clothes, and even comment on the inconvenience on the size change leaving them nude, and.....nothing.
People have learned to be more respectful of women's bodies and I think that's great and important. But I think men have been left behind in the body positivity movement and a part of that is that a woman's body is something to be respected, and a man's body is an acceptable punchline. Similarly an overweight woman is "big and beautiful" but an overweight man is still the butt of the joke.
I actually think that's a bigger reflection on the audience. Certain creators want to tell dirty jokes and make jokes about rape (The Boys Season 4) but they know that doing that to women is strictly unacceptable by the audience, so they don't. The audience doesn't protest nearly as much about it happening to men, so they do. It's not about what they think is okay, it's what the audience is actually gonna do something about.
Anyway, love the special effects. Emma is great and it was nice to see her have a little friend.
Don't get me wrong, nudity isn't a requirement for me to enjoy SW content. For example, I'm not expecting any in The Miniature Wife, as Elizabeth Banks doesn't do nudity. But, you'd think a show like The Boys might. Oh well.
So far, it seems like we've gotten the same effects out of this show as we've always gotten for decades. Giant props and green screen stuff. I guess those are easy and cheap to do. I've seen good handhelds and stuff in foreign shows, like Genie in the House from UK, Selena from Turkey and Mini Mimi from, I think, the Philippines. But it seems the US never does anything that good and always sticks with the same old, same old.

Maybe it was just my imagination or wishful thinking on my part--seeing what I want to see, you know--but it looked like Emma's Elmira prison jumpsuit was just a little baggier/looser after she tried to purge.Dr.Minimizer wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 3:43 amOkay, another episode has dropped. By the way, according to this interview, Lizze Broadway prefers being shrunk than enlarged.

Stimulus: Something nominally cute - puppy, kitty, etc.
My "Cute Aggression" response:

Stimulus: "I love playing small, 'cause I'm in this little blue box with nothing – with no props, no nothing usually. So I just like get to be a child and just play and hope to wing it."

So unfortunately no size change this week.
In light of that, here's a bit I meant to post earlier:
Courtesy of TR8R18 on GtsCity, here's an Instagram reel with some BTS footage including the cellphone running scene and Lizze walking around in the tissue toga.

Just 1 scene from episode 7: the crew makes their way back to the school with Sam doing that bit where strong guys like Hulk travel by jumping really high. At around 13:00, he arrives at the school and Emma reveals she was riding in his coat pocket (and terrified by the whole ordeal). That's the only official shot before he sets her down (no actual shown handheld) behind a tree to grow back to normal.
I believe next week is the season finale.

Now that Cipher/Thomas Godolkin has been healed by Marie, he begins his plan of culling the students he deems worthless. Considering Emma's arc was banding together with other misfits, this is all going to come to a head somehow and unfortunately I'm pretty sure at least one of the 3 is going to die, though likely not Emma since fridging one of the girls could make her go Super Saiyan or something.

Finale:
Emma's fine, Harper's fine, no shrinking

Quick growth though.
Cipher's dead, everybody survived, the team has joined Starlight and A-Train in the resistance. Obviously it would suck if that's were things ended but at least it's on a fairly positive note this time.

Honestly, plot wise I am more surprised that Sam and Cate got off the hook after what they did in The Boys season 4 and became a part of the resistance.rscholar wrote: ↑Wed Oct 22, 2025 2:10 pmFinale:

I mean, you are getting off of a tiny girl riding a huge dick. In term of sick people, one might consider you in the same category as those sick people you just looked down upon...

Sorry, Vash, but no, not buying into any ‘relativism’. Don’t show people vomiting, for instance. It’s just gross. The thing is an adolescent shockfest. It’s dumb on a fundamental level and it’s insulting to the viewer. Taken a step back and look at it for what it is. It’s garbage.
