SW in French Media
Somebody in another thread suggested that we dedicate a section to all the SW stuff from France, and given how surprisingly popular it seems to be over there, I figured we may as well. Cartoons, comics, anything can go over here if you think it fits.

Good idea. And I didn't know this about France.
But anyway, there's Fantastic Planet's opening sequence for starters

Re: SW in French Media
France, when I was there in 2003, had a boat load of commercials featuring SW - sadly, after 20 years, I don't remember which products they were for. One of their morning shows had an SW bump.
GF: "I should warn you that I'm about to get shorter."
Me: "You make that sound like it's a bad thing!"

Wonderful animation, frustrating storyline. Was there any SW in it?

That is actually an Italian ad. Now were are these tiny Italian babes that are your personal assistant. Now only that they are flirty and good looking. Molto bene!jeffrey-dallas wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 12:58 amMy favorite French ad:

Not yet, sadly.
I've recently posted "Armude de Jade" (Jade's Armor), Tara Duncan and a few more on the SW in Western Animation Compilation thread.

Surprised to see nothing from Ankama has delved into here. Shrinking territory yep but nothing really SW as far as I’m aware.

I watched this on the Disney Channel or Disney XD (formerly Toon Disney), I can't remember which. At first, I thought that the female member of the team wasn't going to get shrunk (just like in both Ghostbusters cartoons), but she gets shrunk later in the episode:'

This was on YouTube's homepage recently. I think it's a commercial:

Re: SW in French Media
I think that this is French...
In the late 1940's, the puppeteer Lou Bunin did an adaptation of Alice in Wonderland that combined a live action Alice with stop motion animation:
I think that the entire movie is on YouTube, in English. But I'm holding off for the restored Blu-ray version from Thunderbean Animation, which I pre-ordered. It's being done with the collaboration of Lou Bunin's family:
http://www.thunderbeanshop.com/product/ ... onderland/
Notice that it was filmed in Anscocolor. You can thank Walt Disney for that. He told Technicolor that if "the other Alice" was filmed in Technicolor, Walt Disney Productions would no longer be using Technicolor. (Though I find that hard to believe.) So Lou Bunin's version was filmed in Anscocolor. (And I think that Walt Disney blocked the release of Lou Bunin's version in the US until after his own version of Alice in Wonderland had been in theaters.)

Re: SW in French Media
Stumbled on this version of the trailer for the ISM French remake. This time the shrinking affects random humans worldwide, implying a sequel with a female lead's possible. All the reviews say they skip over showing the effect on the world in general so maybe they're saving that for later. Maybe someone's seen the movie?

Re: SW in French Media
The perfect example of "Reality is bad." It looks so grim and dirty.
The original ISM has an issue with not having an ending. They guy walks through a screen, and then sort of says something philosophical about death, and that is it.

Re: SW in French Media
In an interview with Richard Matheson, he said that The Incredible Shrinking Shrinking Man was originally going to end with Scott Carey being restored to normal size, which Matheson called a "Universal ending". But the director decided to change the ending. Richard Matheson wrote a sequel, The Fantastic Little Girl (which I discovered and informed the online SW community about), in which Scott Carey's wife starts shrinking, and is reunited with her husband. The sequel ends with both being restored to normal size, another "Universal ending". But the sequel wasn't filmed. In an interview, the actress who played the wife said that it was because she was pregnant at the time. But someone on Minimizer's board said that it was because director Jack Arnold and producer Albert Zugsmith had a falling-out.

I remember there was The Incredible Shrinking Man project film Eddie Murphy announced back in 2008 it might have been a blessing that it didn't make it to the screen, Meet Dave wasn't that well received.

Re: SW in French Media
It wasnt recieved well, but i have to admit the effects were pretty good imo, especially when the tinies are picked up by humans.
