Re: Movie/TV scenes you WISH had SW
The one with Bat Mite. I watched that shrinking episode, probably the original Saturday morning broadcast. But I had forgotten about the part with Batgirl. That's Filmation too. But I think that they made up for the "letdowns" with the Fantastic Voyage cartoon, "Superstretch and Microwoman", Mission: Magic!, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and shrinking episodes of their other cartoons.

In the original Wild Wild West, supervillain Dr. Miguelito Loveless devises a shrinking powder that reduces a Native American woman and James West to six inches in height (Night of the Raven)

I was a prepubescent kid when this show was on. Along with LOTG, King Kong, I Dream of Jeanie, it help fuel my SW fantasies.LittleAlisa wrote: ↑Sat Jan 17, 2026 1:12 pmIn the original Wild Wild West, supervillain Dr. Miguelito Loveless devises a shrinking powder that reduces a Native American woman and James West to six inches in height (Night of the Raven)

Any series with several female cast members who aren't annoying.
So basically anime. Mai Hime comes to mind. Ranma 1/2. Vandread.

They teased a couple of parallels where the world was giant compared to them.....but that was about it.LittleAlisa wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 1:51 amSliders…unless they did enter a universe where shrinking was possible

I watched part of that episode, years after the original broadcast. I think West was shrunk by smoking a cigar laced with the shrinking formula. When he meets the SW, he asks her how she got shrunk without smoking a cigar. I think her reply was that a gas blew into her cell through a vent.DocRick wrote: ↑Sat Jan 17, 2026 1:25 pmI was a prepubescent kid when this show was on. Might remember this one too, Schaden. Big letdown here, these galaxy brains had an ACTUAL SHRINK RAY and a cute blonde just standing there. Had the effects budget for a flying car so how hard could it be to show her riding in a shrunken one? Think this is the same team behind Dr. Shrinker so no excusing this travesty!Schadenfreude wrote: ↑Fri Jan 09, 2026 6:59 amI'll call this "letdowns", mostly from Filmation, who otherwise was so good to us:

Wonderbug and Dr. Shrinker were both segments of The Krofft Supershow. (But "The Incredible Shrinking Wonderbug" is from the second season of The Krofft Supershow, with Magic Mongo and Bigfoot and Wildboy replacing Dr. Shrinker and ElectraWoman and DynaGirl (another missed opportunity). Maybe the different segments of The Krofft Supershow had different writers?
Wonderbug was created by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, who created the whole "meddling kids" genre in 1969. But I think that the only "meddling kids" Hanna-Barbera cartoons that have SW content are Jabberjaw ("Now I'm a Great White Guppy!") and the Scooby Doo/Jeannie crossover.

Joe Ruby and Ken Spears did better after they left Hanna-Barbera and started their own studio, with SW content in Plastic Man, Fangface and Fangpuss, Rickety Rocket, The Heathcliff and Dingbat Show, the Donkey Kong segment of Saturday Supercade, Turbo Teen, and there was quite a bit of shrinking in Rubik the Amazing Cube.
(But Filmation gave us the most SW content.)

There's shrinking episodes in Josie and the Pussycats in Space too.Schadenfreude wrote: ↑Thu Jan 22, 2026 9:48 amWonderbug and Dr. Shrinker were both segments of The Krofft Supershow. I thought that there was only AR in Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space? I definitely remember Alexandra Cabot getting turned into a baby.

Any of the Harry Potter movies. To see Hermione tiny or even a carefree shrunken Luna.
Or Ginny trying to be tiny and tough

A big missed opportunity was on The Real Ghostbusters. There was an episode called Short Stuff where the guys get shrunk, but Janine remained full size.

I must have missed that episode. I hadn't watched Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space in a long time. It was weird hearing familiar voices come out of the mouths of different characters. ("Like, wow!") And Melody came up with some pretty good ideas for a supposedly "dumb blonde".
In some of the Josie comic books, Alexandra Cabot is a genuine witch (and Sebastian is her familiar). I wonder if she ever did any shrinking spells?

(In the Josie comic books, Alexander Cabot looks like a more muscular version of Reggie Mantle. In the Hanna-Barbera cartoons, he looks like one of Shaggy's relatives, right down to being voiced by Casey Kasem.)

I'm sure that the GTS fans loved the scene of the shrunken Egon standing in the palm of Janine's hand.
The same thing happened in the "Little Big Bat" episode of Filmation's Ghostbusters (the animated series). The female character manages to avoid getting shrunk. ("Look out Jess!")

Closest we got with a tiny Janine was the Adventures Through Slime and Space episode where Slimer was split into thousands of tiny Slimers, who merged together to make a giant Slimer, who grabbed Janine and took her to the top of the Empire State Building.Schadenfreude wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 8:37 amI'm sure that the GTS fans loved the scene of the shrunken Egon standing in the palm of Janine's hand.
