A Giant’s World: Maria’s Story

Post by LittleAlisa » Sat Nov 01, 2025 5:58 am

There is a world that is right next to ours, just a hair’s breadth away. That world has developed pretty much like ours, with the same technology and the same problems.

Mostly.

In this world, there are spots where magic reigns and technology doesn’t always work the same way that it does in the rest of the world.

One of these spots is an area known as Central America and Columbia in our world, but is known as the Kingdom of Darienata in this world. A generation ago, there were several competing kingdoms in the area, but these have all been United under the rule of Pedro VII, who is doing a magnificent job of maintaining the neutrality of Darienata among this world’s technology based superpowers. Since the Panama Canal was never built in this world, that job is easier than one might think

However: this story isn’t about King Pedro, but his eighteen year old daughter Maria.

By all accounts, Princess Maria is the most beautiful woman ever born in the Kingdom. And she is reasonably easy to get along with, as long as you acknowledge her authority.

Maria is the titular head of the Royal Ministry of Agriculture. However, she leaves the decisions to the bureaucrats who run the Ministry, as long as they tell her what they’re doing and recognize her authority to veto any decision she wants to.

Princess Maria’s world is running just the way she wants it. The only fly in her ointment is a fifty foot tall giant named Phensta.

In Maria’s world, giants are an unknown force. No one knows where they come from and, until they take some kind of action, no one knows if a particular giant is a force of good or evil. Many giants are often seen only from a distance, and that’s usually a good thing.

The young giant Phensta had appeared on the farms in the southern portion of the Kingdom of Darienata five years ago, and had almost instantly proven himself a force of good. He tirelessly labored at any task asked of him by any of the farmers as the prepared their fields for planting. As soon as the actual planting started, he would disappear back into the mountains, not returning until next spring.

No one in the Kingdom had a problem with Phensta. No one except princess Phensta, that is. She was titular head of the Royal Ministry of Agriculture, after all. Everything in the Kingdom that had to do with agriculture was under her control.

Everything but this young giant Phensta.

Maria was going to put an end to that exception, however. Shortly after her eighteenth birthday, and before spring planting in the southern portion of the Kingdom began, Maria rode south to have it out with this giant once and for all.

If giants had a uniform origin, Phensta didn’t know about it. He had been a human foundling, abandoned in the mountains that lied just beyond the southern border of the Kingdom of Darienata. Phensta had been discovered and raised by a solitary giant residing in those mountains.

Soon after being adopted, Phensta immediately began transforming to gigantic proportions. By his eighteenth birthday, Phensta was a handsome young giant who stood just a few inches shy of fifty feet tall.

It was not long after Phensta’s eighteenth birthday that his adoptive father disappeared, to “rejoin the mountains.”

Phensta mourned his father’s passing for a couple of years before deciding to travel north, to visit the lands of the race of beings who had originally abandoned him.

Phensta wasn’t sure what he was going to do when he got there.

Phensta’s first encounter was with a poor, elderly farmer trying to make a living on a particularly rocky patch of land. Before Phensta knew what he was doing, he was removing all the large rocks the farmer had always had to work around, as well as using his huge fingers for deep tillage the farmer’s land.

Word of Phensta’s service made the rounds. When he returned next year, farmers from all around the region came and asked the young giant’s help. Soon Phensta was making a yearly pilgrimage to the southern region of the Kingdom, to aid the local farmers.

The farmers’ daughters (and not a few of the younger farmers’ wives) took to dressing in their more colorful outfits upon Phensta’s arrival, and even flirted with the young giant. This would fluster Phensta, causing him to quickly retreat, which was a great source of amusement to the local women.

Phensta was about to return to his mountain one year, after finishing his assistance to the local farmers, when a small, imperious voice demanded a word with him.

Phensta didn’t immediately respond to the order to turn around and be addressed. This wasn’t out of spite or pride or any other sentiment. It was just that of all the tones in which he had been addressed with by humans, one conveying a royal decree was not one of them.

When the voice reiterated its demand, Phensta turned around.

Standing near his feet was one of the most beautiful human females Phensta had ever seen.

The young woman’s olive skin was flawless, her straight hair long, dark and lustrous and her form slender but shapely. Her attire showed off all her attributes to their best effect.

Unlike the farmers’ daughters, though, there was nothing flirtatious about the young woman’s attitude. The look on her face was equal parts irritated, exasperated and officious.

“I am Princess Maria, giant,” the young woman began, “Daughter of King Pedro and Royal Minister of the Kingdom’s Agriculture.”

Not sure how to respond, Phensta bowed his head and replied “Phensta.”

“Giant,” Maria continued, “You’ve been entering the Kingdom and involving yourself with our farming without invitation.”

“I’ve been helping the farmers:” Phensta insisted.

“That may be,” Maria allowed, “But you’ve been operating outside the authority of the Ministry. We need to discuss how to bring you into compliance with Royal guidelines.”

Phensta silently studied Princess Maria for a half minute before scooping her up and placing her in his shirt pocket.

The first words out of Maria’s mouth were going to be “What the Fuck?” but she reminded herself that she was a princess, and should project that royal image at all times, regardless of her circumstances. So once she righted herself in Phensta’s pocket, she said in a demanding tone, “What do you think you’re doing?”

“You wanted to talk to me,” Phensta explained, “And I was hungry. So I put you in my pocket while I walked away from the village to eat.”

“To eat?” Maria’s blood ran cold. Did Phensta just tell her that he was taking her away so he could eat her out of sight of the village?

Phensta nodded. “Obviously I can’t graze on the foliage near the village, and certainly not on their crops. That would defeat the purpose of my helping them. Besides, domesticated plants don’t taste that good to me. But please don’t tell anyone that,” Phensta added hurriedly. “I wouldn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.”

“I will keep your confidence,” Maria replied, overwhelmingly relieved that princesses weren’t a part of Phensta’s dietary regime. She paused before asking, “Are all giants vegetarians?”

Phensta shook his massive head. “Most are, but a few are pescatarians. I never tried to discover if I’m in the latter group, though. I can only imagine what my stomach would be like if I tried seafood and found out I couldn’t digest it.”

“That’s probably for the best,” Maria allowed, before she attempted to get the discussion back on track. “But see here, why couldn’t your lunch wait until we had our discussion?”

“Because I’m hungry now, and I can listen while you talk,” Phensta answered matter-of-factly.

That was how Maria’s discussion went with Phensta the whole afternoon. The giant would listen politely as he ate the leaves off the tops of trees, while Maria outlined how Phensta needed to conform his activities to guidelines set by the Royal Ministry of Agriculture. But then he would ask why he couldn’t act as an individual, since that seemed to get better results for the villagers than the Royal collective policy did.

After a fruitless afternoon (at least from Maria’s point of view), Phensta returned Maria to the village. He told her he hoped to see her tomorrow, as that was going to be his last day in the village until next year.

Maria nodded politely. She had already decided that, since the giant was refusing to operate under the guidelines of the Royal Ministry of Agriculture, tomorrow she was going to have to ban Phensta from ever returning to the Kingdom again.

Princess Maria was not in a good mood.

After her conversation with Phensta, she had been prepared to issue a preeminent royal decree preventing the giant from reentering the Kingdom. Since such decrees needed the approval of her father, Maria had sent a message outlining her decision and the circumstances that led her to make that decision.

Maria considered her father’s approval a given. The message she sent was strictly pro forma.

Instead her father sent her instructions to recruit the giant, rather than trying to bar him. His reasons were threefold. First, Phensta really did a service for the Kingdom. Second, the local farmers wouldn’t take it well if someone who helped them every spring was prevented from doing so. Third, the kingdom would have to commit military resources to prevent Phensta from entering the Kingdom, in case the giant decided he didn’t want to be banned.

Maria was furious. But she was a princess, so she conducted herself like one. She decided she would follow her father’s instructions and try to convince Phensta to act strictly under the auspices of the Royal Ministry of Agriculture. And when that failed, then she would get Phensta banned from the Kingdom.

Maria’s mood was getting worse as the day progressed.

For one thing, the villagers were monopolizing all of Phensta’s time. Apparently, it had become something of a tradition among the villagers to throw Phensta a celebration on his last day in the village, before returning to his mountain home.

And the young women. Their behavior towards Phensta was disgustingly, constantly flirting and flaunting.

It was to the giant’s credit that he seemed embarrassed by their behavior.

Not that Maria could completely blame the younger women. Phensta could be considered attractive at any size, and his size did give him something of a presence.

Of course, Maria would never act in such a way. She was a princess, after all.

As the day progressed, Maria never had a chance to hold a conversation with Phensta. So she was going to have to take drastic measures.

Phensta had mixed feelings about the farewell party the villagers always threw him after he finished helping them with their spring planting. He enjoyed the sentiment and the music, but everything else he could have done without. It was always crowded, so he had to be more careful than normal when moving about. The gifts he received were pretty but basically “knick knacks” to him.

Then there were the women.

The women insisted Phensta put his hand on the ground, with two fingers simulating legs. The women would then hug his hand. Extended hugs. Pressing into his hand, even rubbing themselves against his hand.

It was all embarrassing and confusing and even a little exciting.

The sun had just set and Phensta was getting ready to make his final goodbyes, even though the festivities would continue into the wee hours of the morning. Phensta had all his gifts stored away in a simple, giant-sized basket. He was checking the arrangement of the items in the basket when Princess Maria placed herself in front of him. She had three servants, each dragging a large trunk.

Phensta was surprised. He had the distinct impression that Princess Maria didn’t like him. But here she was, giving him three chests worth of presents.

Until he discovered she wasn’t.

“Giant, I feel I have not had the proper opportunity to explain to you the essential need for you to align your activities with the guidelines of the Royal Ministry of Agriculture,” Maria began in an imperious tone. “Therefore, you shall provide me suitable quarters in your residence for the next week while I educate you. These are my clothes,” she added, gesturing toward the trunks. “You may transport them for me.”

Maria made herself a mental note. When she got back to the Royal Court, she was going to have a discussion with the Lord Chamberlain about the proper protocol to be observed when a giant transported a princess.

Maria herself didn’t know what the proper protocol was, but she was certain it wasn’t being observed.

Not that Phensta was being ungentle when he picked her up and placed her in his tunic pocket. Truth be told, Maria found she enjoyed his brief but still proper handling of her body when he lifted her to his pocket. And the baleful stares she received from those village trollops was priceless. She thought it was to Phensta’s great credit that he never responded to their crude overtures.

Still, Maria was certain that decorum wasn’t being observed, and thus the proper respect wasn’t being given to someone of her station. But since she didn’t know exactly what the proper protocol was, she really wasn’t in a position to insist upon it.

Maria and Phensta were a few miles south of the village when Maria decided to converse with him.

“Giant,” she began, “How often do you converse with others of your kind?”

“Phensta,” Phensta answered.

“Excuse me?” Maria responded, surprised.

“My name is Phensta, not Giant,” Phensta explained.

Maria kept her shock in check. Apparently, Phensta was unaware that one simply did not correct a royal personage in such a blunt fashion. Well, at least Phensta had the good grace not to correct her in public.

Maria realized she had her work cut out for her, getting Phensta aligned with royal directives and protocols.

“Phensta,” Maria allowed “How often do you converse with others of your own kind?”

“I don’t,” Phensta answered. “There are no other giants in these mountains besides me.”

Maria had had all the best instructors growing up. So she knew that, for Phensta to exist, other giants has had to have been around to procreate.

“Surely your Mother and Father…” Maria began, then uncharacteristically faltered.

“I didn’t have a mother growing up,” Phensta began. “My father found me when I was a toddler and raised, after my human parents found me.”

“You had human parents?”Maria asked.

Phensta nodded. “I started off human, but when my Father adopted me, it eventually turned me into a giant. I think that’s how it works. I’m not sure. My father was always kind of vague about the whole giant thing.”

“Was?” Maria asked.

Phensta continued. “He passed away a few years ago. I mourned him for a while, then decided to visit the people I came from. The first people I found were the villagers, when they were doing their spring planting. So I helped them.”

Maria found herself moved by Phensta’s story. After his father died, Phensta could have gone on a rampage against the race of people who abandoned him. Instead, his first instinct was to help them.

And for most of the year, Phensta was forced to live in solitude.

Maria decided then and there she was NOT going to ban Phensta from the Kingdom. Instead, she was going to DO SOMETHING.

“Phensta, lift me up to your eyes, close enough that I can touch your face,” Maria instructed. Her tone of voice actually had a note of kindness in it.

Puzzled, Phensta did as instructed.

Maria placed her tiny hand on the bridge of Phensta’s nose. “On this day,” Maria began, “I declare myself your Royal Protector. You are now a Ward of the Kingdom. None mat raise a hand against you, save only from a word from my father the King.”

Phensta was a more than a little befuddled by this pronouncement, but knew it was made with kindness. So it was the kindness he responded to, smiling and bowing his head. This in turn made Maria smile.

Maria’s position in front of Phensta’s eyes also brought her cleavage front and center to Phensta’s vision. A cleavage that was firmer and more impressive than any other cleavage in the village. Phensta couldn’t help but stare.

Maria, in turn, couldn’t help but notice where Phensta was staring. This made her breathe faster, causing her breasts to rise and fall rapidly, which in turn caused Phensta to stare harder at Maria’s cleavage.

The two remained silent and frozen, until Phensta quickly placed Maria back in his pocket.

The pair remained silent for several mi,es, lost in their individual thoughts.

Maria wasn’t sure what she was expecting Phensta’s living arrangements to be. What she discovered on her arrival to his home wasn’t it.

Phensta lived in a large stone structure whose interior was a little on the spartan side but still tidy and could perhaps even be called cozy.

On a table in the corner of one room was a human-sized two story structure made of marble and cedar. This included private and surprisingly modern “facilities” that Maria availed herself of immediately. The quarters weren’t quite fit for a princess, but they would be considered luxurious by the standards of a lesser noblewoman. So Maria decided she was willing to rough it for the sake of her giant ward.

While Maria hung up three trunks worth of clothing, Phensta fetched her a supper of exotic fruits that didn’t exist in the kingdom, along with a heady wine made from maracuyá mixed with rainwater. All in all, Princess Maria found her arrangements satisfactory.

The late hour, the long travel and the maracuyá wine all conspired to put Maria in a half-doze. Taking her leave from Phensta, Maria retired to her guest quarters and was soon asleep.
