Hey all, for the past year, I had this idea in my head for a decent length SW story. I have a decent outline on how that'll go but it might be a bit before I get the ball rolling on this officially. Here's what I have so far(Scenes are not final):
Meet Emma Taylor, a brilliant and determined scientist who was once a star volleyball player. After a devastating accident leaves her with a shattered leg, Emma becomes obsessed with finding a cure for her condition. She pours all her energy into developing a revolutionary new treatment, a regenerative medicine that can repair damaged tissues and restore function.
But when Emma tests the treatment on herself, she discovers a shocking side effect: she begins to shrink. As she dwindles down to a tiny fraction of her former size, Emma must navigate a world that is suddenly enormous and treacherous. From everyday objects that become giant obstacles to the complexities of human relationships, Emma must adapt to her new miniature world and find a way to survive.
As Emma struggles to come to terms with her new size, she must also confront the darker aspects of her own ambition and the true cost of playing with forces beyond human control. With her health and sanity hanging in the balance, Emma must find a way to reverse the effects of the treatment and restore herself to her normal size.
But as she delves deeper into the mysteries of her condition, Emma begins to realize that her shrinking may not be just a random side effect - it may be a key to unlocking a new level of human potential. Will she be able to find a cure and return to her normal life, or will she discover a new sense of purpose and identity in her tiny world?
The Cost of Science
Emma Taylor stood at an impressive 5'10" with a athletic yet toned physique, a testament to her years of dedication to volleyball. Her long, curly brown hair was often tied up in a ponytail, and her bright green eyes sparkled with a fierce determination. She had always been a force to be reckoned with on the court, but now, as she navigated the hospital corridors, she relied on a sturdy cane to support her damaged leg.
As she walked, Emma's mind wandered back to the fateful match that had changed everything. "Why did it have to happen to me?" she thought to herself. "I was on top of my game, leading my team to victory... and then, in an instant, it was all taken away." She remembered the sound of her leg snapping, the searing pain, and the feeling of her world crashing down around her.
Emma's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of her physical therapist, Rachel, calling out to her. "Hey, Emma! How's it going? You're doing great with your rehab, but I have to say, I'm a bit concerned about your progress. You're not pushing yourself as hard as you used to."
Emma smiled wryly, leaning on her cane as she stopped to chat with Rachel. "I know, I know. It's just hard to see myself like this. I was always the strong one, the one who could power through any obstacle. Now, I feel like I'm just struggling to keep up."
Rachel's expression was sympathetic. "You're not alone, Emma. We'll get you back on your feet in no time. And in the meantime, I want you to focus on your upper body strength. We can work on some exercises to help you build up your core and arms."
Emma nodded, feeling a surge of determination. "You're right, Rachel. I need to focus on what I can control. And who knows, maybe this is an opportunity for me to explore other passions, like my interest in regenerative medicine."
As she continued down the corridor, Emma's mind began to wander to her makeshift lab at home, where she spent countless hours researching and experimenting with new techniques. She had always been fascinated by the potential of regenerative medicine to heal damaged tissues and restore function. Now, with her own leg damaged, she felt a sense of purpose, a drive to find a solution that could help not just herself, but others like her.
I'll show them all Emma thought to herself, a fierce glint in her eye. I'll find a way to heal my leg, and then I'll help others do the same. This isn't the end of my story, it's just the beginning.
Some time later........
Emma stood in front of the mirror, staring at her reflection in dismay. She was now a mere 3'10" tall, a far cry from her former 5'10" self. She looked like a doll, a tiny, fragile thing that seemed to be shrinking away before her very eyes.
She felt a lump form in her throat as she gazed at her miniature self. How had it come to this? She was a scientist, a volleyball player, a strong and capable person. But now, she was barely taller than a child.
Emma's eyes dropped to the counter, where a array of tiny clothes and accessories lay spread out. She had to special order everything now, from shoes to shirts to pants. It was humiliating, but she had no choice.
She sighed, feeling a wave of frustration wash over her. She had tried everything to reverse the effects of the concoction, but so far, nothing had worked. She was starting to lose hope.
As she turned away from the mirror, Emma's gaze fell on her trusty cane, now propped up against the wall. She didn't need it as much anymore, not since she'd lost so much height. But it was still a reminder of her former self, a symbol of the person she used to be.
Emma's eyes stung as she felt tears prick at the corners. She missed being tall, missed being strong and capable. She missed being herself.
But as she looked around her tiny world, Emma felt a spark of determination ignite within her. She would not give up. She would find a way to adapt, to thrive in this new, miniature world. And she would keep searching for a cure, no matter what it took.
With a newfound sense of resolve, Emma stood up straight, her tiny frame quivering with determination. She would not be defeated. She would rise above, even if it meant doing it from a much smaller perspective.

Feedback is always welcome! I'm figuring out the twists and turns along the way and Ms. Taylor's final size when the story reaches the climax. Still a bit to do and figure out!

Looks like a fantastic start. The only feedback I have to offer, based on some stuff I have written recently, is to perhaps highlight how clothing made for regular people of her current height are never made for people who have the build of a full-grown woman (though I confess I am uncertain what Ms Taylor's vital statistics are beyond an overall athletic frame, so maybe its less important in her case).
If I were to vote for a final size, I'd definitely vote for somewhere between 8" to 12" tall.....but that's just me. Best of luck with the story!

Well thank you! I'll do my best to include some moments of "former wardrobe is not an option anymore" moments.Aussie_Lurker wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 6:20 amLooks like a fantastic start. Yeah, I'm thinking of around that range. Maybe a bit smaller. The rule I'm telling myself is that she has be big enough to interact with the other characters but small enough to be portable if the situation calls for it. So far, I have chapter 1 mostly charted as a way to introduce her and a few other players.
