Abby finds herself in a sticky situation

Caption: Abby regretted taking the babysitting job. Tommy had wanted to shrink her down to play "action figures," so she indulged him. She couldn't quite figure out how things got so out of hand. She figured she could hold out until morning, though, when Tommy's dad would check the mousetraps. Then she caught sight of the spider crawling on the underside of the table.

How did she get stuck on a mouse sticky trap? Well she did wonder how things got out of hand. Plus side, most likely the spider has little interest in her at that size. Down side, daddy might want to play "Action Figure" when he finds her.

Poor Abby. She was actually having a good time playing with Tommy, until he decided to see what she looked like under her costume. She stormed out of the play room, and wasn't really paying attention to where she went. She tripped on the edge of the trap and fell over backwards. It is likely that the spider will decide she's not the best treat and move on, but its going to have to come in a lot closer to make that determination.

I guess the real question is whether little Tommy hears her screams and "rescues" his favorite toy/babysitter or whether daddy finds her in the morning. Either way, I get the feeling she'd be better off with the spider. After all, it was daddy's equipment they used to shrink her. I wonder why he's got it.

Yeah, the father is more likely to find her. Tommy, I'm sure, did a cursory search, then turned on the TV. When his parents get home, they're going to be really upset at Abby for leaving their son alone. Tommy's not going to say anything about shrinking her, as he's not supposed to play with his father's things.

The dad will figure out what happened when he checks the traps in the morning. Assuming its a weekday, he'll just put the trap in a drawer and deal with it after work. Its not like the pretty little babysitter is going anywhere, and its going to take a while to disolve all that glue. Its a good thing she's got short hair.

Besides, after being stuck to that trap for nearly 24 hours, she's probably going to be more agreeable to whatever Tommy's dad wants to do with her anyway.

The next morning, Tommy's mom called Abby's house to complain and found out she never came home. They were just about to alert the police when Tommy fessed up to having shrunk the girl. The parents conducted a frantic search and eventually found the girl attached to the trap. Tommy's mom couldn't help but laugh when she saw the poor thing. "How on earth did that happen to you," she asked, trying to hide her amusement. "Just get me off!" the tiny girl cried. "I was almost eaten by a spider last night!" Tommy's dad spent several hours dissolving the glue with a bottle of acetone.

Now, as it turns out, letting a six-year-old use complex scientific equipment isn't the smartest idea. Tommy had the shrink ray set to too high a power level, exposing poor Abigale to way too much shrink radiation. It won't be safe to even attempt to restore her for months and they may have to use the industrial strength unit at the lab. They offered to send her back home, but Abigale's mom declined. She was afraid Muffins, the cat would eat her daughter for lunch.

I guess, for now, Abby will have to get used to life as a pet. She is starting to adjust. She gets to play action figures with Tommy during the day. At night, she gets to play, um, other stuff, with the parents. She wonders why they can't keep her in a larger cage, though.

To answer Abby's question, the cage was really just supposed to be a carrying case. They do have a tendency to keep her in it when they aren't around, though. She's already gotten herself attached to a glue trap once and they don't want to take any chances. She sleeps on the bed with them, so its not like they're being cruel and leaving her in it all night.

They def could've sprung for a bunny rabbit enclosure instead of a pencil holder tbh…

Abby's case is unique, in that they've always exposed subjects to small, controlled bursts of radiation, allowing them to reverse the process. Their plan is to shrink teams of tiny doctors and inject them Fantastic Voyage style to cure cancer. So they really are good people. Of course, its going to take a lot more power to get doctors that small. They really weren't ready for high powered human experiments. They were planning to expose a lab rat to higher doses of shrink radiation to study the effects. Now, thanks to Tommy, they don't need to.

The cages were designed to transport subjects between the university research facility and the little home lab. If they find she's in there for long periods of time, they'll definitely buy a larger enclosure. They'd rather just give her free run of the house, but they need to take care of the mouse problem first.

Her hair is why it took so long to get her off the trap! He thought about just chopping it off, but his wife wouldn't let him.
