Thanks for the tip! The Miniaturist I found is from 2017 though. This was even earlier, I’d say 2000-2010 probably. I tried searching the video but it seems to be gone, so all I have is this vague description.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. The show wasn't called "The Miniaturist"....that was just a title of one episode, the one that I think had the scene you described in it, in the show whose title I have forgotten. Except now I found it.....the series was called "The Collector". I have the video on my hard drive, but its around 0.5GB, so can't just attach it here. Give me a bit of time and I will try and figure out how to send it your way.
