Sophie sat, scribbling down answers for her homework. Every so often, she paused to glance to the side, where her tiny older sister, Lucy, twirled and hopped awkwardly in a pink tutu far too frilly for anyone’s taste—especially Lucy’s.
“Higher jumps!” Sophie said with a grin, tapping her pen impatiently on the desk.
Lucy obeyed instantly, pushing herself harder despite her obvious exhaustion. Her little legs wobbled as she landed a spin and forced a smile onto her face, though it didn’t reach her eyes.
Sophie giggled quietly, remembering how things had been just six months ago, before SHR-1 turned their lives upside down. Back then, Lucy had been the bossy, stuck-up older sister who had controlled everything—what they watched, what games they played, and even who got the bigger slice of cake. Sophie had grown up under Lucy’s shadow, frustrated by her sister’s constant orders and demands.
The virus was awesome!
Sophie leaned back in her chair, biting the end of her pen as the memories of Lucy’s “training” played out in her mind. Oh, Lucy had been defiant at first. Angry and unwilling to accept her new, tiny reality. Sophie had tried being gentle at first, but when the tantrums continued, she’d realized more drastic measures were needed. A few weeks of spankings and strict lessons in obedience had reshaped her once-domineering sister into the little, compliant entertainer Sophie now enjoyed.
“You were so stubborn,” Sophie said aloud. “Remember how you used to bark orders at me?” She chuckled. “Funny how things turned out, huh?”
Lucy didn’t respond, only kept dancing, the fear of reprisals etched on her face.
“Faster,” Sophie ordered, setting her pen down to watch more intently. She loved the sight of her former bossy sister humiliated like this—dancing in a tutu, doing as she was told without question. It was a power she never could have dreamed of before SHR-1.
As Lucy increased her speed, Sophie clapped her hands, enjoying every moment. “Good girl,” she praised mockingly. “Maybe if you keep this up, I won’t make you do another routine after dinner.”
Lucy’s tiny body trembled with exhaustion, but she kept moving. Sophie only smiled wider. After all, she’d spent months getting her sister to this point—and she wasn’t about to let all that training go to waste
