Caliope came from a modest, lower middle-class family in a poorer borough of a large city, but she was smart and worked hard throughout high school and received very high honors when she graduated and to her surprise, instead of state schools, she was offered a scholarship to a very, very prestigious female only university.
When she first arrived at the campus, she really felt out of place. All the other students were the offspring of wealthy Hollywood actors, industrialists, politicians.....and scientists. She was ignored by most of the other girls, but she tried not to let it get to her. She kept to herself, studied hard and began to get noticed, not by the other students and staff, but the national media. She gave several interviews on the campus grounds and her name started to become noticed by fashion designers and even television producers.
One day after class, she was approached by one of the most popular girls at the university. She told her that they had misjudged her and that she was sorry. Then she said she and her friends were meeting that evening and asked if she could join them.
Caliope, trying not to show too much eagerness, graciously accepted and after her last class, she went to meet the other girls. She was introduced to the other girls of the clique, enthusiastically greeted and hugged by all of the them. They walked off the campus into a nearby park, ending up in a secluded area off the walking path when the other girls all suddenly stopped and circled around her.
The girl who had invited her to go with them. the daughter of a famous microbiophysiologist, sneered at her. "You think you're hot stuff. You don't belong here. You're just a puppet of the DEI suckers. You think you're a queen when you're nothing but a pawn. You're just a plaything. A pet. A toy. We think it's time you learn your place in the world. Girls, are you ready?" The other girls stepped to the side. She pointed what looked like a large television remote control at her and pressed a button. A bright beam emitted from the end and Caliope was enveloped in a glowing light. When the light faded, Caliope was standing knee deep in the grass, looking up at the other girls, now towering over her like skyscrapers. The girls all knelt down and surrounded her with their hands.
"Okay, girls. Who wants to play with her first? Just remember, don't hurt her.....too much. My little sister has been asking for a new doll for her birthday."
