They do that to repel older kids and adults to prevent what happened to Bakshi's "Mighty Mouse".
Yeah I never pretended otherwise, it's a kid's show ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But now I'm curious... what happened with Mighty Mouse?!

They spent all that money on a much better than average cartoon, and no one would show it because of lies about a three second scene and it's creator. Everyone who looked knew it wasn't true, but it didn't matter. Dumb hysteria and bullying ruled even in the 1980's.

Plus, when you have an animator named Ralph Bakshi (even though a lot of the art style still feels more like John K than anything else) to do work for a kid's show like Mighty Mouse, it's expected to happen.

What a great scene, both the girls down by her feet and getting grabbed up by her. I would have laughed if she started playing with them like dolls right there too.

foreverlurk's been on fire posting these clips from overlooked sources. Here's one from the 2018 animated movie Cinderella and the Secret Prince with the "fairy godmother" Crystal—actually the real one's sassy apprentice—shrinking herself so she could go skulk around with Cinderella's mouse minions. (One of whom unknowingly hides a big secret.) Her VA also voices Skipper in the Barbie cartoons, in case the voice has anyone wondering. Interesting lesser-known SW.

You are so awesome for finding this!

But alas, the lack of a good handheld I was excited and expecting for so long is overwhelmingly tragic. :(

Regardless, very nice job. :)

Guess this goes here, 1980 CBS TV special about newspaper comic strips, the (extremely-hot) blonde host goes through being animated and shrunk down to size to enter the world of comic strips:

Here's a couple Totally Spies gifs for ya. Episodes I found with SW moments are Episode 13 - Shrinking, Episode 30 - The Yuck Factor (Fantastic Voyage style), Episode 85 - Attack of the 50 ft. Mandy (obviously more giantess with a quick shrink at the end), and Episode 134 - Super Mega Dance Party Yo! (temporary shrink in the middle).
There's also "Baddies on a Blimp", in which one of the gadgets that the Spies are given is "shrinkinator wristwatches":

"Guess what time it is?"

"Time to get eaten by monster plants?"

"Time to get small!"

What a strange program. Not very well thought out, as they end up showing anything but the subject that the program is about. I think I saw something like this with cartoon characters too.

You mean animating the strips and not just showing them? Guessing they wanted to show off their animation department, the strip creators got to enjoy some screen time at least.

Yeah, the old Sabrina stuff is great. I never saw it before! Very cool!
Kajira remembers watching "School Daze", probably the original broadcast in 1969. And I saw "The Generation Flap" as part of the syndicated "The Archies" in the late 1970's.

There's also "The Babysitter", which I think was the first appearance of Hexter, the bratty nephew of Miss Della, the Head Witch.

It looks like that sequence in the beginning is the only original animation for this. Everything else is showing cartoons or even live action adaptations of the comics.

The Garfield one was original at least. I'm betting there's others.

Episode is Bart the Lover,
FYI, this is Bart's imagination and the only missing part from this video is an extra perspective shot, literally just 5 seconds so in my opinion not worth searching
Simpsons Magic School Bus/Train-Otto on LSD (Acid, Trips) uploaded by Nathan Pearson (VSW)

In a recent episode, Lisa shrinks and interacts with Malibu Stacy and the other dolls in her dollhouse after they come to life. (Reminiscent of the 1970's children's book Among the Dolls, except not as dark.)

There's also a couple of Halloween episodes (three if you count "King Homer") and at least three couch gags.

Quick group shrinking in Winx Club:
After all of the Winx Club girls earned their Enchantix over the course of Season Three, all of them except Bloom could shrink themself. (I think Bloom could finally shrink herself in the first movie, which I haven't watched yet.) But Bloom was actually the first of the Winx Club girls to shrink, during Season Two.

Winx Club-FULL EPISODE The Spy in the Shadows Season 2 Episode 19 uploaded to YouTube by Winx Club Official

(This is the original European version, not the redubbed (and sometimes edited/censored) 4Kids version that aired in the US.)

(Note where the "phony" Professor Avalon's hand is after Bloom is herself again. In the next shot, Bloom's arms are crossed over her chest, like she's saying "Hands off, pervert!">)

I forgot about the tall tales episode, specifically the segment with Homer as Paul Bunyan and Marge as his normal-sized wife.

I forgot how neat the shrinking sequence was in Epic.
My cable TV box guide's description for Epic never mentions shrinking. It says that MK is "magically transported to another world". Even though it's obvious what happened to her.

"What happened? You got shrunk?"

"Yes!"

"Seriously?"

"It's been a weird day for everyone."

I think that the description on the back of the DVD case also says "magically transported to another world" and doesn't mention shrinking.

Specifically, Mighty Mouse is given a flower by a little girl. Later in the episode, Mighty Mouse takes out the (now dried-up) flower and sniffs it, because it reminds him of the little girl. Someone thought that Mighty Mouse was snorting cocaine.

And John Kricfalusi worked on Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures because Ralph Bakshi is one of his idols. (Another one of his idols is Bob Clampett, director of Looney Tunes and creator of Beany and Cecil.) Two Terrytoons characters from the 1940's and the early 1950's were Gandy Goose and Sourpuss. They were usually shown sleeping in the same bed. John K. decided that since they slept in the same bed, they were a gay couple, and needed to be married. So one of the episodes of Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures was the "wedding" of Gandy Goose and Sourpuss.

Another controversy over a cartoon from back then: When Disney's The Great Mouse Detective was released to theaters in 1986, the classic Mickey Mouse cartoon "Clock Cleaners" (with Donald and Goofy) was shown before it. At one point, when Donald is quacking in frustration, he says "You doggone snake in the grass!". Someone thought that Donald was saying something dirty. So Disney replaced that part of the soundtrack with part of the soundtrack from a different cartoon. I think ALL home video releases of "Clock Cleaners" have been the altered version.

Speaking of Mighty Mouse, watch the original Mighty Mouse cartoon "Hansel and Gretel". (Be sure to watch the one uploaded to YouTube by Steve Stanchfield, since it's a theatrical print that hasn't had anything cut out of it (for running time, not censorship) like the TV print.) In addition to having SW content, it has the crazy, off-model animation of Jim Tyer, including one of his "shrink takes". (Though it's a cat.)

I can't believe that no one here has mentioned the "Superstretch and Microwoman" segment from Filmation's Tarzan and the Super 7, probably because Crys isn't a member here. ("I loved that show! I was always looking for black superheroes when I was a kid, so I just about DIED when I found Microwoman. You might say that's what got me into SW.")

Tarzan and the Super 7 Opening, uploaded to YouTube by Brick Mantooth

The Adventures of Superstretch & Microwoman (Intro) From The Super 7, uploaded to YouTube by Raymond Draughn

Filmation also gave us Mission: Magic!, which was like a psychedelic predecessor of The Magic School Bus. I think the teacher used a slide rule as the size changing device. (I've also seen her use a chalkboard eraser to erase bank robbers' getaway car. And when she turned the knob on her purse, she and her students could fly.)
