Well, it is a real thing that happens to people with dwarfism, and can be rather tragic.
The situation for those two is rather more complicated, as they don't know anything about the new world they are on.

Never thought about that scenario... Usually we like to see how someone shrinks other one, so both are there, the perpetrator and the victim...

But being shrunk and not knowing what, who or why, really ads an extra layer of HELPLESNESS !!!
