The VFX balls help with lighting calibration with Cgi object so basically if you want your miniature wife to look as real as possible especially when it comes to interaction your gonna need those VFX ballsensmallen wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 12:33 pmWhat the hell does this mean? A post on Peacock's blog last week about the show. No new information, other than their first direct acknowledgement that one spouse gets shrunk instead of just referring to it as a technological accident.

I just hope there'll be at least one solid handheld. Not a palmhold. Not a "between thumb and forefinger." And not from a distance or one that lasts a fraction of a second.

You'll be lucky. At the size they intend her to be (from what I understand so far), a palmhold might be the best you could hope for.PickUpArtist wrote: ↑Sat Apr 12, 2025 7:09 pmI just hope there'll be at least one solid handheld. It's like a lot of things with the sw fantasy, we tend to grasp at any straw or titbit the media comes up with. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.

Yes, that's true. We do grasp at any straw there is, and this likely won't be exactly what each and every single one of us wants.Little Sally wrote: ↑Sat Apr 12, 2025 11:00 pmIt's like a lot of things with the sw fantasy, we tend to grasp at any straw or titbit the media comes up with. However, I choose to look at what we will be getting. There will be a shrunken woman throughout the series of the show. Not one that will occasionally shrink like in Gen V, but a main character that--according to the source material, anyway--will be stuck at that size for a majority of the plot. I'm expecting there will be flashbacks to extend the short story to series length, and since the cast is more than just the husband and wife from the story, there will likely be a variety of interactions, but I keep coming back to one thing, which makes me very hopeful:
Elizabeth Banks will be a few inches tall for the majority of the series. It may not hit everything we all want, but that alone hits lots for me.

I think you've misunderstood me slightly. I'm also looking forward to what we will be getting from the series, which I'm expecting will be a darn good story above anything else. I won't be approaching it from a 'shrinking fetish' perspective because I know it won't be aimed at that kind of audience, but I think what we will get out of it is an interesting power dynamic between the main characters, because of the size factor. So a lot of psychological fun and games!scidram wrote: ↑Sun Apr 13, 2025 1:13 amYes, that's true. But who knows, maybe we will get some physical interaction along the way, but I'm not expecting anything remotely serious (or sexual) like others are hoping for on here. It'll be what it will be, and I'm sure it will be entertaining.
I can tolerate sizes in movies and television that don't reflect my own size preferences, like Skull Island for example. Because I know they aren't aimed at people with a size kink. But I'm less tolerant of written works. Because in the main they are written by people who do have a size kink, and understandably will reflect their own personal preferences.
So well done on pressing my own personal buttons.. with 'Desperate Measures'.

I, too, am looking forward to the power dynamic and psychological games. And from a writing standpoint, I'm super intrigued about how they're expanding the story. So yeah, it will be what it will be, but you never know. I never expected to see a scene like in the first episode of Gen V, and while I don't expect this to have something like that, I wouldn't be surprised if there's at least an implication.

I find myself enjoying mainstream content with Size elements but not aimed at the fetish audience more because of the suspense: how far will they go? I also think that just exploring the power dynamic will inevitably suggest fetishy thoughts in any viewer; it's really not that great of a leap.Little Sally wrote: ↑Tue Apr 15, 2025 5:36 pmI'm also looking forward to what we will be getting from the series, which I'm expecting will be a darn good story above anything else. Finally, I am also eager to see how they expand on the short story, which to my mind doesn't really lend itself to episodic television. There's gonna have to be more characters and more plotlines.

Re: Elizabeth Banks to Star in "The Miniature Wife"
Given the history of the writers, I wouldn't be surprised to see some odd/eccentric humor added to screenplay. What would be humorous to them, could be incredibly erotic for some of us, especially some of the unaware stuff, eavesdropping, sneaking, etc of Elizabeth Banks character. As far as mainsteam media content goes, The Miniature Wife has to be the most promising thing to ever happen to this space. However mainstream media does have a way of letting the SW community down, I wouldn't be surprised if half way through the series, Elizabeth Banks grows back ends up shrinking her husband

I'm sure there will be lots more characters and various twists and turns and backstories etc, so I'm expecting it to be a really good watch.
As long as it doesn't get as mega drawn out as something like "La Brea". I almost didn't make it through that lol!

Re: Elizabeth Banks to Star in "The Miniature Wife"
Well, one of the extras has "Parent Graduation Attendee" next to their name on the IMDb page, so it looks like they really did add a kid (or at least a teenager) to the story. What does this mean for the not-so family-friendly parts?scidram wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 7:43 pmGot a casting update! https://deadline.com/2025/01/zoe-lister ... 236266833/
The original short story only has two characters, so I'm wondering who they'll be playing, particularly Sofia Rosinsky, as she's 18 years old. Could she be playing a daughter character? That would pose an interesting dynamic.

Re: Elizabeth Banks to Star in "The Miniature Wife"
If it's a high school graduation, it puts a "daughter" character at 18 years old. Maybe daughter is off at college, which changes the dynamics of them as a married couple, ultimately leading to the miniaturization event. Who knows? Either way, in order to make the source material into a multi-episode series, there would have to be significant additions. And if that means a prolonged experience of tiny Elizabeth Banks, woo-hoo!

Sony has the global distribution rights to the series, and here's an interesting quote from the article:
“The Miniature Wife is ‘must have content’,” said Mike Wald, Co-President, Distribution & Networks, SPT. “Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfadyen are an undeniable pairing. The humor is both distinctive and smart, and it’s a heck of a lot of fun.”

Listed are Episodes 1 and 2 - I also read that they had a screening on Sunday at an LA screening event.
From Peacock -
"Season 1 of The Miniature Wife was originally scheduled for release around May 2025, but due to unexpected delays, the exact release date has yet to be confirmed."

I believe the Toronto news site said filming wraps in early July. I wish I knew when they wanted to originally start that it was supposed to be *done* now so we could get a decent idea how long post-production might take. It would be awesome if it were a Fall premiere but I'm assuming it'll be 2026.
