A "Christmas cocktail party at an affluent millionaires house" doesn't mean that it's necessarily a flashy party. It could just be them having a Christmas party among their friends/colleagues, and because they're upper class, they dress fancily.ensmallen wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 1:30 pmI don't know, if Elizabeth really is a Pulitzer winner it's hard for me to imagine she'd have the time or the inclination to flaunt her success with a flashy party. My take's the host's the same person bankrolling Matthew's research, think Killian from Iron Man 3, someone smooth enough to organize toney parties and military funding (which nothing in the short story suggests about the narrator). If he's capable of that then it follows one look at the bastard and you know no woman's safe from him, maybe Matthew's character and him even have a history like Stark and Killian had, in which case he'd have enough motivation to prove his superiority putting the moves on Matthew's wife. OR the guy could just stand there and be the success Matthew's character never was and drive him up the wall without lifting a finger. The point is someone in the script has to exist solely to drive Matthew to the lengths his character goes in the OG story.scidram wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 10:37 amAt "an affluent millionaire's house"? Could the millionaires be Lindy and Les? If she's a Pulitzer-Prize-winning journalist/author and he's a scientist, they'd be wealthy. Maybe she's responsible for most of that wealth, giving him feelings of inadequacy, and is part of the power (im)balances in their marriage. Also, the specific restriction against the color RED implies to me that Lindy will be in red. Don't want to upstage the lead actress!ensmallen wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 9:33 pmMiniature wives January 30th interior gala scene. 30-60 yrs old UPSCALE Males and females all ethnicities.

Also, I'm not quite sure that Les (Matthew Macfadyen) is going to go to the same lengths as the husband in the OG story, as that behavior seems, at least to me, a little too dark for what's being billed as a marital dramedy. While it is possible that there will be an outside character that puts the moves on Lindy, I think that most of the conflict is going to be between Les and Lindy. Those are just my thoughts, and the time when we find out is closer and closer!
