Venting about stuff

Post by Godforgives,Idon't » Sat Sep 06, 2025 6:16 am

I'm holding off to make sure that people are done lashing out at me before I register as a member here. I don't want to get a bunch of nasty PM's like the one that I got from Keith on Minimizer's board. ("How dare you accuse l.o. of taking sides! She just wants everyone to get along! She's still upset about banning bobvann and she asked me about 75 times if she did the right thing after she banned a known pedophile." And yet she had no problem banning me, after all that I did for her. At least she payed the price for it.)

My mom is supposed to be going to the Adams family house on Sunday, and won't be back until after she's recuperated from her hip surgery on September 9th. So I may have this place to myself for a while. (Unless my sister (the one who hasn't died of cancer...yet) tries to do away with me while my mom isn't here to protect me from her.)

Not everything that I post about here is readily available online. Some of it is coming from my memory. I watched the original Saturday morning broadcasts of Sid and Marty Krofft's The Lost Saucer in the mid-1970's, and I watched Sid and Marty Krofft's The Bugaloos in syndication in the late 1970's. I haven't watched either show since then. The line by Benita Bizarre (played by Matha Raye, The Mouth That Roared) in The Bugaloos is from memory.

foreverlurk has posted clips from some of what I posted about here on his YouTube channel, like clips from both "Popeye's Treasure Hunt" segments from The All New Popeye Hour[/i, and a few clips from "Superstretch and Microwoman". (I have every episode on a "homemade" DVD set.

I doubt you'd get nasty PMs if you curb the urge to keep venting about the past. I mean, you can say something once or twice to get things off your chest, but after that it starts getting a bit tiresome for the reader (and I'm trying to help here). I know that might be hard for you to do because of your various issues, but try and give it a go and see what happens.

Plus sending and receiving PMs can be a positive thing, where you can get into some really interesting conversations that you might not want to air publicly. You can also do all of the things that have irritated you as a non-member (like editing your posts, and posting links and pics etc).

That's got to be worth a shot, right? :)

There's still stuff that I haven't vented about. Last year in August, something that I ordered from Amazon was delivered to the wrong address. So I started walking around the trailer park that I live in now, trying to find it, since it cost $82.22. Someone called the cops. I had to lift my shirt up. I was patted down. Someone took pictures of me being put into the police SUV (to be taken home, I wasn't arrested) and posted them on the Caribbean Isles Facebook page. People posted outright LIES, like that I was "inebriated". The last time that I drank alcohol was the night that I graduated from high school in 1985, and it was forced on me by my dad. (And back then my grandfather on my dad's side talked about forcing me to drink beer to get me to gain weight.) If I wasn't walking steadily, it was because my feet were sore from so much walking. I have no criminal record. I don't like having overdue library books. (And I told that to the cops.)

(I finally got the mis-delivered package, exactly seven weeks after it was mis-delivered. A realtor who was checking on her properties found it, and brought it here. It was delivered to 126 West Saint Johns Way instead of 126 East Saint Johns Way. She was shocked that someone called the cops.)

Sometimes I might be venting if it fits in here. While skimming over the "Requests" sub-forum, I saw requests for stuff that I used to have, but it got taken to the DUMP (like my box of printed-out SW stories and comics) or it was taken to the storage facility, where I'll probably never see it again (like my DVD's).

Last night I looked at the "Elizabeth Banks to star in "The Miniature Wife"" thread for the first time. One of the members who lashed out at me made some nasty comments about Elizabeth Banks being too old in this thread. At least one other member said that they were going to put this member on their "ignore" list. So maybe this member is a troublemaker, like greenbastard. ("All you people who want to see this drawing are a bunch of pedophiles.")

(I had forgotten all about The Miniature Wife and Other Stories, until I saw one of my posts in the "Tiny little people novels!" thread on the Vault of Evi message board about it being available from Edward R. Hamilton, Bookseller, for $5.95 (in 2015). I figured that the copy that I ordered was taken to the storage facility before I could read it. But the excerpts in the thread here kept jogging my memory. It turns out that I had read the story, but somehow I had completely forgotten about it.)

Yes fair enough, I don't blame you for being angry about those things. But is somewhere like this the right place to sound off about it? I dunno. But I guess if it makes you feel better then why not. Personally I think it's more rewarding having a one to one chat about things with someone who is a good listener (privately of course).

I'm glad you took a look at that Miniature Wife thread. It's good isn't it. Are you planning to watch the series when it comes out?
Yes the comments about Elizabeth Bank's age were unfair (and unpopular), but everything that needed to be said was said, and the matter is put to bed now. Hopefully.

What are you thinking of having as your username when you join? ;)

Ps. (edit) Will be away for a few days from Monday. But will be back on Friday. Having a mini vacation in Yorkshire.

I've also vented on the Internet Animation Database forums (after they started getting after me for necroposting), on the VW message board that I post on (partly to explain why I had gone for nearly six years, and telling them that all of my VW magazines got taken to the DUMP, the ones that were bought new or subscribed to (1982 to 2017) plus back issues going back to 1963 that I bought at VW shows, collectibles shows, used book stores and flea markets), and on the Bewitched Fans Facebook group (telling them that my "Bewitched in Tokyo" DVD set (as well as all of my other DVD's) got taken away from me and put in a storage facility, where I'll probably never see them again, and that one of my sisters wants to get rid of ALL of my DVD's and make me watch everything online, as well as getting rid of ALL of my books and making me read everything on a Kindle). But I didn't vent to the degree that I did here. I also vented about my personal life on Minimizer's board ("My God Bobby, you had a horrible childhood."-Emma), though it was probably in the off-topic sub-forums, whatever they were called, because that was the one message board where I didn't have to hide my laundry list of mental illnesses, since other members of Minimizer's board also were mentally ill. (In 2012, Kajira tried to commit suicide, and spent time in a psychiatric ward.) But then along came Dorian and his prejudice against the mentally ill.

I don't really understand streaming. I'll have to see if Peacock is available on my cable TV's "on demand" service. That's what I use to watch the Anne Rice TV series (Interview With the Vampire, The Mayfair Witches) and Sanctuary: A Witches Tale (which is from the UK) on AMC+ and to watch School Spirits on Paramount+. (Of course, I have to pay a monthly charge for both services on my Spectrum (cable TV, Internet, land line phone service) bill.) Or else wait and see if it comes out on DVD. I found an Australian DVD set of Gen V, which I just discovered through this message board, and I have a region-free DVD player. (That same person stirred up trouble in the "Gen V Season 2" thread, complaining about the quality of the special effects. And he stirred up trouble in the "Heretic" thread, to the point that someone said "Perhaps keep your hate and politics off display on this board?".[quote (Though he did watch Heretic and let everyone here know that there's no SW content in it.) He seems to be another greenbastard ("Don't get your dick blown off over there.") So now I don't feel so badly about him lashing out at me.) TV Guide now devotes part of each issue to streaming, so I'll have to look through back issues (which I haven't been looking at because of my bad eyesight) to see if there's anything about The Miniature Wife (and Gen V).

The same name that I posted under on Minimizer's board. I'm stupid enough to post under my real name on message boards. (Though I don't use my last name on size change message boards. I'm really taking a chance posting comments about shrinking-themed YouTube videos with my full name, because I don't know how to change it.)

"Bobby" is a good enough username, and nice it's your reaL name and you feel comfortable with it (no one should expect your full name obviously).

Same for me with Sally. Real first name.

Will look out for you appearing as a member!

I tried to join here last night. I was ISP banned, supposedly because I'm a "spammer". I tried again later with my other e-mail address, but I got ISP banned again. So it looks like I'm going to have to keep posting here this way.

That's strange.

Maybe Elana can help. It might be something she can override or correct as the Admin.

Don't give up.

I managed to register under a different username, one of the ones that I used on the SWastika.

Strange.
The list of banned usernames is rather short, so I doubt that it had anything to do with the name.
Now email and IP addresses are looked up in the "stop forum spam " database.
But I adjusted the amount of hits needing to be found for a block to be rather high, to avoid too many false positives.
