I like the idea. But I haven't been able to get AI to understand shrinking at all, let alone out of clothes. I can make the woman and background separately, but in motion, there is no way to do it yet.
Try POLLO AI, I discovered it has a very good understanding of relative scaling, as you can see by the display gallery of videos people made and shared

I remember Witch Hunt...and of course there was a cartoon, Alf Tales episode of Alice In Wonderland.
Did ALF want to eat the Cheshire Cat?

Imagined. I saw Marne Patterson on Something So Right and started picturing myself as Will. I was about his age, no further explanation necessary. But maybe the logo helped.

Marnette Patterson, who played the sister of Kaley Cuoco's character in the final season of (the original) Charmed? She deserved to be shrunk, for all of the trouble she caused for the Charmed Ones.

When he uses a potion or something else ingested or touched to the skin, then the girl will usually shrink out of her clothes. (I think slowly, giving her enough time to realize what is happening and to panic about it, is best)
There's also getting injected with a shrinking formula, like in Robert Bloch's short story "It's A Small World", and in the EC Comics story "Divide and Conquer

I have my own "rules" about shrinking out of clothes. If the woman is injected with a shrinking formula, or drinks a shrinking potion, it makes sense for her clothes not to shrink with her. Whereas if the woman is zapped with a shrink ray, is shrunk by magic, or is completely drenched with something (like in Minimizer's comic "Lewis Carroll's Legacy": "Great, now I'm SOAKED! Thanks so MUCH, Gerald!"), then her clothes should shrink with her. But these "rules" aren't always followed. Most adaptations of Alice in Wonderland (except Tim Burton's version, and a porn version from the 1970's) don't have shrinking out of clothes, because they're geared toward children. In tinygirllost's story "Changing Room", while a woman is at a job interview, she's sprayed with steam from a leaking pipe. Her clothes are now soaked, so she goes to a department store in a mall to buy new clothes. While she's in the changing room, she shrinks, but her clothes (and her jewelry and her purse) don't shrink, even though they were doused with whatever was in that steam. (I'm not sure if tinygirllost's story "Furnished Apartment" counts. While a woman is exploring her new apartment, she knocks a glass flask off a shelf. This releases a gas that knocks her out. When she wakes up, she's Barbie-sized, but her clothes (and her jewelry) didn't shrink with her. When she finds her watch, she thinks to herself that she can wear it like a belt now. (She also discovers that she's been unconscious for days.))

I'm going to redo that Lewis Carroll story one of these days with AI, and I'll be sure to retain that particular line of dialogue exactly as stated.

There are tricky details with shrinking from injections or gas that don't shrink clothing, the main one being, what happens to things on or in your body that aren't part of it, like earrings, piercings, tattoos, rings, hairpins, or (shudder) dental fillings? If those are going to shrink too, then where do you draw the line exactly? What if someone is wearing an insulin pump or has a plate in their leg or a pacemaker? Does the item have to be within the body or piercing the body or just touching the body? If it's touching, then would someone's pants shrink but not a belt wrapped around the waist? It gets complicated!

No it doesn't get complicated Min, because it's all a silly fantasy at the end of the day and there isn't any science involved.

You either like the idea of shrinking out of clothing and the hell with it, or you you dont. Simple as that.

Personally I don't.

But do enjoy your ramblings about it all! :D

"It's A Small World" was written in 1943, and "Divide and Conquer" was written in 1950. A lot of that stuff probably didn't exist back then. Artificial limbs would have been something that strapped on. ("I know a man with a wooden leg named Smith." "What's the name of his other leg?") And they used to make clip-on earrings. (Maybe they still do.) My mom's Aunt Florence wore them.

I've always rolled with the somewhat cheater notion that anything inside the body, be it a filling, a crown, a breast implant, a fake knee, etc is "part of the body" and therefore shrinks along with the woman who ingested / injected the shrinking potion.

But then the floor they are standing on would shrink and that would extend to the entire planet.

As matter cannot be miniaturized, the entire concept of "shrinking" is an impossibility. So why get all bent out of shape with details, unless it is part of your storyline. There have been a few stories, mostly in the VSW line where implants or fillings didn't shrink and the poor girl met a ghastly demise.

There was a story on one of the old Yahoo groups boards called "Mountain Dew" (if I recall) where a woman with a tampon shrinks and bursts. First time I had read something along those lines. It's not everyone's cup of tea but wow was it formative to my developing fetish interests.

I guess my Portal idea helps taking out of the equation all these minute but annoying Elephants in the Room

Well, the idea belongs to - Weavelg0d but maybe that is why I liked it so much and, with His permission, I started such a huge storytelling thread

The Portal creates a quantic transition very easy to explain, if it was possible, everything on one side is normal and everything on the other side is 1/12 size...

And for magic potions the easiest way, is to say that anything a person considers to be part of them shrinks with them.

Neatly explains why cartoon characters always are in their standard outfit, it is just part of their identity and so shrinks with them :P
