Though I feel for those folks who can't watch it for whatever reason, I don't like the idea of posting full episodes here. I would hate for the bigwigs to catch wind of our little corner of the internet. I understand that they're a multi-billion-dollar corporation and all, but I don't want anyone potentially getting in trouble for piracy.
Going by this You?Tube video, it looks like The Miniature Wife is going to air on Sky in the UK:

(Here in the US, the CW aired the Sky One series The Rising. But in addition to muting the profanity, they even blurred the mouths. And they probably cut stuff out.)

I never got to finish "Desperate Measures" because I was banned from Minimizer's board. The last chapter that I read ended with
SpoilerShow
"A naked, full-sized Veronica stumbled out of the chamber.". So now there were two Veronicas, a Barbie-sized one and a normal-sized one. The employee who produced the normal-sized Veronica while fooling around with the teleporter was in love with her. This seemed like the perfect solution: one Veronica for him, one Veronica for her husband. (Though I'm sure that the husband would want the normal-sized "Physics Babe".) It reminds me of a pulp story in which a man turns out to be identical twin brothers. Both of them are in love with the same woman. She accidentally gets duplicated during the testing of a "duplicating machine". So now there was one for each brother.
Oh! What a cliff you've had to hang on all this time. Hoping you've been able to finish it since then, as the novel has been available for purchase for over a decade.

I kinda should have guessed it would come to the UK. Comcast, which owns NBC/Peacock, bought Sky UK in 2018 and even delisted it from the UK FTSE 100 Stock Market.

When I was young, the evil media mogul Rupert Murdoch's Fox tried to buy Sky UK but was blocked several times. He was obsessed with getting his hands on it, but was blocked on monopoly grounds with UK telecommunications. He owns some UK newspapers and radio stations too. It came to a head in 2018 at an auction for control of Sky UK and Fox, as 21st Century Fox was outbid by Comcast, then a year later, 20th Century Fox was sold in the US to Disney.

No, I haven't. I had to do without a computer for nearly six years (February 2017 to December 2022), and I only just rejoined the community last September. (Though I vented as the unregistered member "Godforgives,Idon't" for about two months before that.) E-books are out of the question, in case my sister snoops through my mom's Chromebook. It probably isn't even safe to order the physical books from Amazon, in case my sister snoops through my Amazon order history. I'll have to use www.abebooks.com. www.alibris.com or www.biblio.com, which are basically "bulletin boards" for used book stores.

I also have to get "Just A Few Inches", which I didn't get too far into before I was banned from Minimizer's board. ("Sweet Face" had just started shrinking, and her mother was talking about suing the company that made the weight loss drug.)

Here's that pulp story. (Though I've given away some of the plot.)

About twenty years ago, Sky One aired HEX, which lasted for two seasons, a total of 19 episodes. The second season turned out to have SW content. An evil nurse turns out to be a faerie masquerading as a human. Amazingly, the clips that I posted on Minimizer's board all the way back then are still on YouTube. Some people didn't like it ("That was very disappointing. She's a ball of light the entire time as a fairy."), though I remember that Sally G. liked the part with the syringes.

WOW! That's amazing!

Image

Good to know that she's gonna get out of the dollhouse at times. Love the oversized set and props--that phone and earbud!

The "Terry Leyland" on the phone is Sian Clifford's character, who is a coworker/colleague of Lindy's. It looks like Terry is calling Lindy, perhaps wondering where Lindy has disappeared to. Will Lindy answer?

Images like this make me overjoyed that the show is only 43 days away and there'll be more images and a full trailer coming soon!

wow, great shot, really curious what is real in this shot, because you could do the usual and build a tiny set and chroma key Elizabeth Banks' character in but a lot of this could be made real nowadays, even the phone.

I think it's a fusion of both. Intially I think the fake snow is real, the nutcracker head is real, cushion her head is on is real, the phone screen is real, maybe the white fallen cat scuplture, whatever that is, is real. The rest is faked by superimposing, including the casing of the phone. This can be done easily because Elizabeth Banks will likely stay in that one spot and position for the scene, with her, the cushion and cat sculpture thing are surrounded by white.

That's not a cat sculpture. I think it's supposed to be an earbud for her phone.

Hey there! We've got a new image! From this ScreenRant article.

Looks like Les pouring Lindy some wine because she's had a stressful day. Getting more and more excited for this! Only 38 more days.

I'm really looking forward to the conversation about how he got her out of her clothes and into her pjs - he'll probably think it was a sweet gesture while she'll be terrified that he had to use giant tweezers on her.

It's definitely implied from this little snippet that Les has to change her clothes. That would definitely be an interesting conversation!

Some other things I've gleaned from this new scene in the context of everything else we've learned:
  • Lindy's voiceover says that she and her husband take turns supporting each other, but as soon as she sees the mini-truck with the shrinking spray, she mocks him: "This is the top-secret project you've been working on?" Interesting juxtaposition. Are they really supportive, or what that something she said in an interview, her being a Pulitzer-Prize-winning author?
  • We know from an interview with Matthew Macfadyen that Les is seeking a Nobel Prize for being able to reduce crops. This is supported by the exploding corn in the first teaser. Thus, this "toy truck" miniaturizer is likely a prototype scale model of his plan. Trucks spray the stuff on crops at a farm and they shrink. So that means this prototype is... wait for it!... a miniature miniaturizer!
  • Though it's not clear why the truck is moving around on the floor at home, it is clear that Lindy picks it up. Thus, they both share blame for her accidental shrinkage: Lindy for picking it up and bringing it to her face, though it's likely she didn't know what it was capable of; and Les for bringing something dangerous home in the first place. I give him more of the blame, even if he was trying to gain her approval/support by bringing it home to show her.
  • But why is it roaming the floor? This snippet implies that he didn't intend to shrink her. The look of panic on his face as he says, "Oh no, Lindy" is not the reaction of someone with intent. However, his patronizing "There you are!" when shrunken Lindy opens the door implies more than just relief that she's alive; there is something else there.
  • This implies that the shrink is a quick poof or maybe a rapid process--sorry slow shrinking fans. The quick growth, albeit explosive, scene in the teaser with the corn supports the quickness of the process.
My God, this is gonna be amazing! Can't wait for the full trailer tomorrow. Based on Peacock's most recent trailers, we're looking at run times of 2-2.5 minutes. New content is coming on 3/3! And you know what? 3+3=6, and Lindy is 6" tall! Woo-hoo!

In the story that this is based on, doesn't the husband end up keeping her in a cage and then she ends up escaping and lives in the walls of the house and then she becomes feral and then she's kind of hunting him?

Yes, but it doesn't sound like it's following that storyline. The original was almost in the genre of a horror story. This one sounds more like a dramatic comedy.

Edited:

Well, watching the trailer it looks like they are keeping some of the original storyline but not nearly as dark as the original story.

In the original short story, the husband barricades doors and windows of the dollhouse so she can't escape from it. But she does. She starts terrorizing him, so he buys a cat. She kills the cat. She makes an encampment with the heads of flies on little sticks. He floods the place. Their fates are left unresolved.

With the series billed as a romantic dramedy, I don't expect them to go that far. However, the longer Lindy remains shrunk, the more unhinged I expect her to get, and thus, she will take it out on Les. So maybe the encampment and fly heads. If there's a cat involved, maybe it's accidental because Les getting one to hunt her down makes him completely unredeemable, and the marketing of the series so far doesn't suggest that.

Either way, the trailer is only a few hours away, and then the series in 37 more days. Not that I'm counting, mind you.

This is promising to be a lot of fun if the trailer is anything to go by. Though I suspect there'll be more to it than playing for laughs. Terrific looking effects anyway, and the lead roles are just perfect! A very nice soundtrack to the trailer as well, by one of the most underrated bands ever! (10cc).

Thanks, Sci.

OH. MY. SWEET. JESUS!!!

I wasn't sure what to expect at all but this looks incredible!

There's so much interaction and imagination on display and Banks looks like she's really being put through the wringer. The crew were going on about how this isn't going to focus much on the "wonder" aspect of her being tiny but it seems they're going to hit on a lot of it anyway.

My only disappointment of course is the lack of process and all but otherwise this looks like the real deal.

Look at all we've got! Great effects and much interaction with oversized props (the tape measure is exceptional)! There's at least one hand hold. She's inside a drawer at some point. And it looks like elements from the source are incorporated, such as her having to bust out of the dollhouse, attacking a fly, and tormenting Les.

I've said it before, but there are many shared elements to my novel Desperate Measures. Both involve a troubled marriage, though Lindy and Les seem to have much deeper issues than my Veronica and Derek. Both involve a technological mishap that shrinks the wife, though Lindy is half Veronica's height. Both have gruesome failed restoration attempts. Both have the SW hiding in a drawer, though the trailer implies that only Les knows Lindy is shrunk while Veronica's team know in my story. Both also include a restoration deadline; mine was due to potential funding loss, and here it's losing a patent. Other than that, this is a far different story.

Ten hour-long episodes of this, and it looks fantastic. Casting of Lindy and Les looks perfect. Elizabeth Banks is spunky and sassy and sexy as all hell here. This is our time, folks. We have totally hit the jackpot with this.
